Wow ...Where did last week go?

It's been a pretty good week though. Cold as heck here on the mountain.

Need to get a repair done on a hawk and then keep going on another hawk. Had a couple of good moments this week. Yesterday I picked up a beautiful damascus blade that I had made over a year ago. It had a cold shut in it that looked very deep so I just tossed it. Just for a little practice and to get the grinder working properly, I ground it a bit and the flaw was gone in no time:D

Also tested and confirmed my finding cash for fun idea. Sometimes when Deb goes into a store to shop, I'll walk the fence of the place or around the curb of the parking lot. I found enough cash yesterday to pay for dinner out and fill our gas tank :D. Wind is cash hunters friend. Try it after a windy week sometime in a high traffic establishment.

Taking it slow

What ya'll doin?

Going to try to dig out. We've got 4" of ice over 4" of snow here and there's no way I can get out/in of the driveway. If I can get out tomorrow morning we're going to go visit a Rottie at a shelter we plan to bring home once they process our adoption application. We found him and turned him in, but he was sent to the wrong shelter and is outside in a run with a dog house in 10 degree weather at a shelter that killed over 200 dogs last year. We were on the fence as to whether we were going to keep him originally, but now we're going to bring him home...

It's kinda cold to be in the shop, and I'm a little short of gas, but maybe I'll work on some stuff this weekend. We'll see...

Here they prayed for a warm January - they got that . But then !! it was +1 F this morning ,again , very windy, again .Next week we'll have an Alberta Clipper for more cold . We got 8" of sleet which is packed solid now so you can't shovel. ..So I sit here feeding my woodstove and playing with the computer.

Today trying to finish up a knife for an auction coming up here on post. A donation for the Officers' Spouses Club. Saturday we are heading out to Montgomery, AL. Just found out this week that I'll be going to Maxwell AFB this summer, instead of Leavenworth, KS. Not a bad deal really. There is a free Master's Degree in it, not to mention far more knifemakers in AL than in KS!

I'm glad you posted, deker. Not ten minutes ago I was looking at mapquest trying to figure if you and Butch would have been engulfed in that ice. Hope Butch is ok, too, and any other forum folks in that storm.

Good on you for rescuing the dog! Looks like a happy guy!

Same old stuff for me this weekend. One day is much like the next. Maybe a little shop time.

This was a looooonnnngggg week.

I'm debating about picking this up, though I really don't have the money or need it. :D

Just got in from taking 3' of snow off the lower roofline of the house... took 45 minutes with the snowblower to move it once it was on the ground! MAN that's a lot of work!

Beautiful pup, man... I'm sure he'll be loved!

Burch, SWEET BRONCO!!!!!!!!!

We're not dead yet! I may still try to get out and borrow some milling machine time from butch to fit up some guards.

Well, scratch that adoption. I just got a call that the dog's owner came and picked him up. Kind of sad really as we had just decided on bringing him home and had picked out a name and everything. I'm glad to know he's back where he belongs. I just hope his owners give him the medical attention we know he needs. We weren't looking for another dog, and frankly knew it would be a bit of a hardship to us, but he is a great guy and got along very well with our dog, so we figured we'd give him a shot. Que sera sera...

10" of snow here in NH, ice on top. Weekend plans are a party tonight, working on an order tomorrow morning, then a Milsim Airsoft skirmish from 9-4 on sunday. Its always fun to shoot fully automatic bb guns at people at 400 fps 20rounds per second...especially when they look real, feel real, weigh as much (or more) as the real counterpart, are nearly 100% metal and use mainly real-steel aftermarket RIS parts....good times! plus tons of the Milsim guys collect knives, so i sell them out the back of my car at events! Here's what I carry: M4 variant. Doubt there is an actual real steel counterpart in this exact setup, though.

One look and I say that is a Must Have:eek:

It has extreme cool factor. This would make up for the loooooooooonnnnggg

week.

if there was one ford that i would drive that would be it
5 speed with a 300 6 or a 5.0 efi V8
lots of fun to be had in that tho

Well it has a rebuilt 302 with 351 heads and a rebuilt transmission. The suspension was redone with 3-inch lift (not a body lift), but it needs lots of cosmetics and a radiator. :D

got him down to $2000, but the wifey is still not happy.

Definitely get that bronco, I've restored six of these and many more fj40 cruisers. You will love the this truck. Hopefully you don't have ocd as this one looks like you could enjoy it as is and not throw 10 grand at it!

it does then fall in to big toy range
if it runs and is safe ish then i say sure get it but only fix a hair of it at a time there are tons of parts for it if i remember right ( i wanted bad to get one and fix it up spendign at least 12 grand in extras)
im a dodge man tho and i have a std cab short bed 4x4 dakota that needs a bigger motor at least 318 more like a 5.7l hemi and a nv3500 or 4500 then the fun will realy start

I am going to work on my first folder this weekend.

As for the rest of the weekend. There is a Pub Crawl tonight ( Drinking and riding a bicycle ) And I wedding I want to ditch out on.

I get to go plow snow at the fairgrounds tomorrow (on a tractor....no cab....not in a nice warm pickemup truck). Don't know how cold its supposed to be. The low for tonight was supposed to be 12 and we're already down to 10. If it gets too cold I'm firing up the 10ft road grader, don't care what they say.
Then the windshield wipers quit working on my dad's truck so I volunteered to help fix them. Ought to be fun taking that apart in the cold.

Manure spreader is buring in a 3ft snow drift so I probably won't clean stalls. Guess whatever time is left I'll try and spend in the shop

Matt,

I believe it'll be in the low 30's tomorrow, if you don't get started to early.
I am running the beagle in the morning. It's supposed to go to 15 tonight, down here by the river.
Kinda warm, compared to what we have been experiencing.
