Daughter: I can prove that all women are evil.

Mom: (raising eyebrows) Really??

Daughter: Women equal time, Time equals money, Money is the root of all evil, so, therefore, Women are evil.

Mom:    And I can't even blame the system.....I homeschool.......

They certainly don't seem to be equalling enough of my time these days.

Had this been mentioned to me a few years ago during one particularly disastrous relationship, I would've said that the logic was infallible.

Yup.:D When you get one like my Barbie and I presume Bill Marsh's Anne; money isn't the most important thing, neither is dinner or any other reason to spend money. They're just there for you, most of the time you don't even need to talk.:D  :D

Clearly your wife and mine must think alike. Sometimes I have to pry her out of the house for a break, supper at a restaurant, etc. Often we spend hours in the same room, her piecing quilt squares together, and me either grading papers or reading.....not saying much, just enjoying each other's company. After 40 years, we can usually finish each other's sentences.....wunnerful, ain't it.

I guess I'm lucky too. For some of my friends, though (male and female) the spouse= doing time :( Some folks are just rotten to the core and aren't happy if they aren't making someone miserable.

What was the Movie title? Doing time on Mulberry Drive, or something?

Jurrassicnarc; welcome to the forum, in case I or someone haven't said so yet. I'd warn you and tell you to ignore the Man behind the Green Curtain, but most of the men here are behind the Green Curtain.

"From Publishers Weekly
[Dr.] Stout says that as many as 4% of the population are conscienceless sociopaths who have no empathy or affectionate feelings for humans or animals. As Stout (The Myth of Sanity) explains, a sociopath is defined as someone who displays at least three of seven distinguishing characteristics, such... Read more "

RE a good book:

The Sociopath Next Door
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t.../ref=ase_psychopathsorsoc/002-9741252-2207228

This is a new book coming out in February [2005]. A brief summary reads: "We think of sociopaths as criminals in prison or as dictators of Middle Eastern or Latin American countries, but in fact sociopaths are often the petty tyrants in our lives--high school teachers, cheating spouses, your awful boss. The 4% of ordinary people who have no conscience--no capacity to feel shame, guilt, or remorse--can do absolutely anything to other people without ever feeling guilty . . . These sociopaths learn early on to show sham emotion, but underneath they are cold as a snake and live to dominate and win. THE SOCIOPATH NEXT DOOR is about recognizing sociopaths. What is their behavior like? What goes on in their minds?"

forum trolls appear to me as sociopathic behavior.

I thought the true quote was "the love of money is the root of all evil."
One of the scholars will correct me if I'm wrong..

I wouldn't go too far in diagnosing forum trolls after reading a book on sociopathy. People can have all kinds of problems that lead them to poor postings. They say our age is characterized by 'character disorders', and your classic sociopath is one. But there are borderline personalties, narcisstic personalities, inadaquate personalities....a real treasure trove of what's wrong is in the DSM4.

We all have sociopathec tendancies. It's a matter of degree.

I like to think if someone truly wants help, this forum will. Unfortunately for all, we've seen in the past where the illness itself refuses help. I've been amazed at the degree to which HI forum will turn the other cheek. There are those individuals though, who do not wish to change, and many more who are lost in viciousness. We are not less for refusing to be abused.

Yes, that is the correct quote. i did tell her that and I don't want to tell you how the rest of that conversation went  :D

But, you know, don't get too serious here, my main point was that sometimes we are prone to making conclusions that are seriously flawed based on some previous happenings or just plain out of sillyness. I did ask her if the opposite sex could be substituted in that equation and get the same results..... :D  :footinmou

Another goody she found this week:

The battle of the sexes will never be won.....there's too much fraternization between the enemies :D

At least this one wasn't her thinking  anyway I hope she just found it in some crazy email

1 Timothy 6:10 (New International Version)10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Brevity--That was startling in going to the heart of the matter in the fewest words possible.

On one occasion, a Brahmin by the name of Anatthapucchaka came to the Buddha and said to him, "Venerable Sir, I think that you know only the practices that are beneficial and not the practices that are unbeneficial." To him, the Buddha answered that he also knew the practices which were unbeneficial and harmful. Then the Buddha enumerated six practices which cause dissipation of wealth; they are: (1) sleeping until the sun has risen, (2) habitual idleness, (3) cruelty, (4) indulgence in intoxicants which causes drunkenness and negligence, (5) sauntering alone in streets at unearthly hours, and (6) sexual misconduct.

"An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life." Robert A. Heinlen

The most fundamental fact about the ideas of the political left is that
they do not work. Therefore we should not be surprised to find the left
concentrated in institutions where ideas do not have to work in order
to survive.
