I wish someone would have pointed me to Busse knives back in 2010 when I began collecting knives.
I found out about them by reading a lot of reviews, watching videos and just general information gathering. I wanted a strong fixed blade. What I love, possibly even more than the knives themselves, is the enthusiasm behind the owner of the knife...that is so refreshing.
Curious how some of you came across the Busse and family of knives.

Reading Mags back in the 90's, just didn't have the coinage then to venture into them!!! But VERY glad I did when I did...

So lisa, now that you've been converted, i suppose it's safe to ask

Since you own both CRK and Busse knives, what do you think of them side by side?

and to stay on topic, i got interested in busse from this forum but i decided it was something i MUST HAVE after watching the Nos videos

My cousin, deadheadarcher, brought a bunch of Busses to a family reunion to show my brother and I. A couple months later I e-mailed him to ask him about the cool knives he had. He ended up selling me his 2007 ASHSE. By the end of that month I had a FFFBM and a Fatty GW on the way. And so, the story began....

BF member Welton offered me 2 smaller Busses for 7 of my spydercos on trade about 3 years ago. It wasnt an easy trade for me at the time but Im very glad I took the plunge. A month or 2 later I took a trade offer on a CGFBM from a guy who doesnt post here much anymore, highdesertwalker? (Bill?) and thats when things got REALLY out of control, will never part with that one

I like 'em and collect 'em both.
Sure wish Busse made a folder though, that would be on my "must buy" list....I think there is one, saw a photo of one....but I love me some fixed Busse!

Lisa. When I sold you that NICA tanto I mentioned Busse. Can't help you didn't hear it till 2 years later:D:D

Since I was buying that folder, I must have been too caught up in folding knives at that time to listen. But for the record, I can thank you for this then, you planted the seed :D :p

Honestly, my first exposure to Busse was not a favorable one. I was searching for a hard use knife, and found the Busse website. It was not well laid out. There were NO knives to buy! I was stumped about where to go from there. I thought, well, they must be out of business.

I did not stumble on this sub-forum for a while after that. I joined here, and did not know about the Busse subforum.

Then, I clicked on a for sale post, and saw the FFBM. I Was HOOKED!

The design and looks just blew me away. FBMLE was my first, then a .22 GW, then a BAD, then an Ash1cg, then another BAD, then a SarQ, KZII, B11, CABS, Muck. I only have the KzII, BAD, SarQ, Muck, CABS, and B11 now.

I was sold before the NOSS video's, but man, did that open my eyes as to what INFI could take.

I need to take a pic with the whole family. I don't think I have one.

There are folder pics floating around. Rules prevent showing the pics of the prototype (three of them came up for sale on Ebay once, and I may, or may not have grabbed pics).

Even better for eye candy, there are fantastic custom folders made of infi! I have posted the ones I had stolen pics of recently.

When I first started looking at knives more seriously about a decade ago, I read quite a lot of Cliff Stamp's reviews. I think that was where I first came across Busse. But, it took me a long time to work up to the point where I was willing (or frankly able) to spend that kind of money on a knife.

My first Busse was a Skinny ASH, and despite not being very impressed by the edge it came with, it didn't stop me picking up others (usually telling myself I would sell off an old one, and then somehow forgetting to do so).

In the last couple of years, my collection has gone a little crazy. I now have 10 Busse blades (9 production and 1 custom shop) and a similar number of other Bussekin items, alongside a lot of other things.

Speaking of Busse Family, can someone outline the family tree for me?

I just know of:

Busse Custom Shop
Busse Combat
Swamprat
Scrapyard

Yes, that's basically it, as far as I know. When they first started there was a lot of fuss made about Swamprat being a completely separate company and dire warnings were given never to contact Busse about Swamprat lest you be thrown into the lowest pits of hell. Over time things seem to have relaxed a little, and Scrapyard appears to have morphed into what Swamprat used to be (i.e. SR-101 blades with resinprene-C handles), whilst Swamprat has gone a little more up-market.

Custom variants seem to be made on all three lines, but I'm not sure if the Cumstom Shop(pe) accepts custom orders on all, or just on Busses.

Holy Freaking INFI NUCLEAR Thunder.....Yowza! How did I find Busse?

Tripped over one of Jerry's empty Blue Labels and here I am!

Heh...ok, maybe not.;) Was looking for a more beefy tough semi-custom (or semi-production) fixed blade knife that had no sissy whiningness to it...something that screamed "Me Man have Man Knife" and all that landed me in the Swamp of course....Yes that's right I trudge through the Swamp to find Busse. My first stepper knife to Busse was the Swamp Rat Ratweiler.:D

Of course things were alot different then, especially for me. I was used to handing over some cash and having someone hand over a knife all in the same moment. Back then things ran at a much slower....I mean real slower....pace. I believe I waited several months for my Rat that didn't come with a sheath...oh man that was a real learning curve, knives that don't come with sheaths. Back then we didn't have Mashed Cat or all the others that actually have knives on hand. Guys would send in a knife, let everyone know on the forum and if you want a sheath you put in an order and hopefully would get one without having to send in yours. But if you wanted something different you had to ship your knife. Still do in some cases. But that was the way it was....2 weeks!:p....Hell I remember the Busses were even a longer wait...up to a year if I remember correctly. But then I was new to the custom semi-production world, big surprise to me when I found out that Randall Knives has a standing 5 year wait for ordering a knife. BTW....2013 is just around the corner!!!!

But like the man says.................NO REGRETS! Best Freaking Ass fixed blades on the planet. Bar none....seriously, nothing IMHO compares. Some come close (CRK) but NONE are Busse's equal.

NUFF SAID!

Probably good I didn't buy my first until recently...those long waits you mentioned would have played havoc with my instant gratification traits.

Heh.....Did me.....BIG TIME! Not one of my virtures. Hell still isn't.

Been into knives forever, had the mo-nay so I went for the TGLB. While waiting I have gotten 3 others and am hooked at looking for more. I think the RMD is next and I really want to try a ganzaaa but I'm not sure how I'll make out.

Worked in a knife shop for years and heard some things about them. Saw a buddies Assault Shaker years ago and loved it but couldn't swing the $117 price tag  Even had SH-E's come through and sold them to soldiers shipping out (They were trade ins). Got on Bladeforums and lurked for a while. Saw how much fun the hogs were and the sheer enjoyment the forum was back then that I finally jumped on a PT-5 from ThatMGuy. The rest is history I suppose. I've since sold it due to fund issues (Story of my life lol).

ive always had a thing for knives. i got busted in kindergarden for carrying a swiss army knife( i thought i was awesome).
anyways, i found busse after going through many knives having problems with chipping and denting edges with nothing more than solid cropping work and whittling.
got on google, searched for the toughest fixed blade on the market and stumbled upon them. the nmsfno was on the market at the time and so after extensive research and h.w.....
i purchased my boss street...yes, i know, not what was expected but i figured, i would buy a little one to test so i didn't waste ALL of my money. needless to say, that little knife gave me a huge grin after some use. later got me an nmsfno, never looked back. im up to 7 now

I have loved them sense 2002 when I joined BF and found the Busse forum here.It took a good while but I traded a Sebenza for a BAE.Still have a soft spot for the badgers.
I really wish I could remember who I got that BA-E from.
