While I have a question about a specific knife, the maker doesn't have his own thread, so this seems to be the most appropriate place. Due to laws and need I often carry a small traditional such as the GEC 14, 18 or 25 and just drop one in my pocket without a case. One knife that has always interested me is the Brian Fellhoelter Frikky; it's small but is made with more modern material than most traditionals.

My first question is about the length closed. One dealer has the closed length at 3.125" but it is unclear whether this refers to the handle only or if it includes the extended tang. Would someone who has one mind measuring the entire closed length, the handle including the extended tang?

My second question is about carrying the knife, does it stay safely closed on its own while sitting at the bottom of a pocket? Would I simply tighten the pivot to get this result? I noticed the Frikky has an optional tip-up pocket clip which suggests that it somehow stays safely closed otherwise this would be a bad idea.

The 3.125" closed length of the Fellhoelter includes the extended tang. Yes you can tighten the pivot to make it almost impossible to open, I've never had any of mine open. I would recommend the Titanium handled version, the CF would be next. I would not recommend the G-10, the handles are pretty thin and feel almost flimsy in comparison to the CF and Ti. The newer versions (2014 and later) have better hardware.

Get the pocket clip, it works great in the fifth pocket in a pair of jeans. The pocket clip only fits the ones with the newer hardware. The cap lifter is the best of any I have used. PM me if you want for more information.

I have several versions, including the first run. Personally, I think the newer versions are better. It's a very handy little knife.

Thanks for your reply, that answers the only two excuses I had not to pick one up!
