Frn qualities

FRN is the workhorse for Spyderco Folders. I have carried mine for years and it is still grippy, but I have worn G10, even the heavily textured ones from Cold Steel smooth.

Here is some good old FRN that has seen a lot of use by a member of the Spyderco Forum.

here ya go, if i were to do it again i would make it shorter, there isn't any reason it needs to be that long. more pics are in the link below the picture.

David Lowry posted pics of one he ran over with a bobcat after sticking the knife in the ground before it snapped pics are gone but the story is still there

This is my 7/8 year old Salt 1, modified, dropped a lot, but the FRN is still going on strong and the volcano grip is still functioning very well.

I used to think FRN sucked until i bought some expensive G10 covers from a German manufacturer, they look very nice and are easy ish to fit but then i found the blade did not open as smoothly, so figuring that the blokes at Spyderco know what they are about i reinstalled the original covers and managed to sell the expensive imports at a loss !! So now other than the application of a little dye to enhance ( i hope ) the look of a knife i leave them alone, i will buy a G10 version if available but usually find myself carrying the FRN version for its lightness and feel in the hand...

Yep. I love pictures of well used knives. They have much more character than catalog quality new knife pics. I've always believed you don't really own anything until you've used it enough to get your DNA ground deeply into it.

I like FRN quite a lot. It's inexpensive, tough and lightweight. What it lacks in aesthetics, it makes up for in practicality which I quite appreciate.

I love my G10 Spyderco knives and I love my FRN Spyderco knives. Ive never been disappinted in either and I highly recommend them both!
