Sorry if this has been asked a million times before, but does anybody know when the FRN Stretch is supposed to become available? Thanks.

it's going to come in zdp and vg10 versions correct?
Yes, it will be available in both steels. The VG-10 version will have a black handle and the ZDP189 version will have a blue/grey handle.

From what I understand, in addition to the plain edge ones, both versions will be available in serrated as well.

I'm just glad that there'll be another piece in the blue FRN. I love it on my sprint run zdp delica.

Blue/gray scales on the ZDP? That's a bummer, I hate that color. Looks like I'll have to do a Frankenstretch. Anybody want to trade their black FRN Stretch scales for some blue ones, once these come out?:D

The pics looked more like a purple/gray color. But then again, it might be as deceptive in pictures like the so-called blue/gray scales of the D/E4.

I hate that color too. Saw a ZDP delica with those color scales on it somewhere.. wonder when they started doing that.

I just want the Black handle, VG10 with plain blade. This will be a real user.

Agreed , Zdp is ok if you can keep it sharp but vg10 can be dulled and easily sharpened again fairly quickly....

I hope the zdp fad goes away...

Boy, I don't know about that. My EDC consists of 2 ZDP knives (Caly3 and Delica), and I'm just in love with them. ZDP is great stuff. However, I did have to pick up some diamond rods for my Sharpmaker, to avoid hours of frustration in reprofiling them.

I love ZDP 189, it is a very high performance steel that takes extremely sharp edges at thin angles and holds the edge a long time. If you have the proper stones, like the DMT XX Coarse I use, reprofiling ZDP is easy and quick. Then, if you maintain your edges with microbevel sharpening ZDP can go from dead dull to hair whittling sharp in a few minutes. It just takes practice and proper tools for the job to appreciate some of the newer super steels.

Hope the fad goes away? Hope the fad goes away?! I love ZDP-189. LOVE IT! It is such an amazing steel. Go away? I would dig it if ZDP was used for all their blades. I know everyone has a right to their opinion, but how can you not like ZDP-189??

Agreed! ZDP-189 and Carbon Fiber are 2 of my favorite things. And Spyderco is now my favorite company for producing these 2 things in such variety. Viva Spyderco!!
OK, sorry for the thread derail. But I stick by my original statement that a ZDP Stretch in black FRN is def on my wish list. Right behind the Ti Millie:D

I am very impressed that there were so many replies to my

" I hope the ZDP fad goes away" and not one insult or harsh comment,

I guess in sayin that i was kind of silly , why would i hope it goes away just beacuse i am not fond of it dosent mean many many others are not. So i retract my comment and say.

I am not fond of it but i respect those that are and i hope it dose not go away for all your sake. They make most ZDP knive in other steels so it realy dosent affect me.

Sorry guys and gals
