FRN Stretch Release?

Can you post some spine shots? How much thicker is it then the Delica/Endura? Compared to the original CF?

I thought it was thinner then the CF version.

I don't own a micrometer, but I'd say the FRN Stretch II and Endura IV are identical in thickness. Makes sense given they use similar nested liner construction and both have 3mm blades. The Delica IV is probably half a millimeter thinner, since it has a thinner, 2.5mm, blade. CF Stretch II is the thinnest of the lot. It is slightly thinner than the Delica IV and more noticeably thinner than the Endura IV and FRN Stretch II.

Thanks for the picture. Do you have one comparing it to a Salt series knife? My 93mm rescue and all my Salt series folders seem wonderfully sturdy yet thin enough to carry IWB very comfortably. I thought that the Delica/Endura would be similar in thickness to the Salt's.

The Delica III was the same thickness as the Salt I and Tasman Salt, and the Endura III was the same thickness as the Pacific and Atlantic Salts. Both are the E3 and D3 are thinner than their "Gen 4" counterparts. I'd also say the FRN Stretch II and Endura IV are extremely close to, if not the exact, same thickness as the Military. The CF Stretch II is almost identical in thickness to the Tasman and Salt I.

Thanks Paul! This is the one Spydie, that I'm impatiently waiting for.
Our dealer up here is not sure when he will receive them. :)

Up until about two weeks ago I'd never even noticed the Stretch 2, much less thought about purchasing one- wasn't even on the radar. Then a user Stretch 2 in CF ZDP popped up in the for sale section (Thanks Davidz:thumbup:); the combination of CF, ZDP and the price made it impossible to pass up. It's in my pocket now, I really like this knife! Feels great in hand, may sand the CF a bit (just a tad with 400 0r 2000 grit sandpaper). I'll be giving these FRN models a real close look, don't typically have multiple knives of the same model, this may be an exception. Been thinking picking up a full SE Spydie, an SE Stretch may just fill the bill :)

Wear a respirator when sanding, you don't want to breath any of that stuff.

omg... thnks paul. I have to get one of these now!
Glad I could be of help Jake. I'm confident you won't regret it. :D

To put the thickness questions in perspective, we're talking approximately 7/16" for the FRN Stretch II and approximately 3/8" for the CF version, so around 1/16" difference. By comparison, the Buck 110 is about twice as thick as the FRN Stretch II.

Yes the FRN Stretch is a godsend.

It's SO good that it makes the D4 seem kinda "bleh"...and that's the meat and potatoes baseline for Spyderco. I'm almost afraid to get a Caly3 but will prob anyways out of O.C.D. :)

Talk about a crazy year for Spydiefans!

Awesome. :)

I love how thin a lot of Spyderco models are. They just disappear in my pocket.
