Frog Gigs & Hunting?

we used to catch frogs with a fishing line and a berry or peice of grass as kids we'd put the barry or grass tuff on the hook and dangle it in front of the frog theyd usually take

In a survival situation, would you eat the whole frog, or just the legs?

Depends on the size and how plentiful the frogs are. I'd probably eat all of the frog that I could. No sense is depleting the food stores if you don't know how long your survival situation will last.

aughhh... the legs are good though. We had a local restaraunt that had an all you could eat frog leg dinner once a week. I miss that place. Where is the drooling smiley when you need it?

I love frog legs. However, if it were a survival situation, I believe I wouldn't be saying "frog legs" rather I love frogs. Period. Eat whatever you can of whatever you get.

Thanks for the link. I ordered the 4XPK model.

Good on ya K. Do yourself a favor. If the urge strikes to spear a snapping turtle, Don't! Unless you're absolutely starving.

Went spearing carp and dogfish with my brother-in-law years ago with his home made gig. He speared a snapper between the shell and its head. He had to use a hammer to get that mean SOB off the tines. When we got up the next morning it was still crawling around the boat. Those things are just tough.

Have hunted frogs with gigs and 22. When you spear them, you've got them. If shot with 22, sometimes they still have a jump in them to land in water.
Grandpa always caught snappers by just waving a stick in front of them. They would grab stick and he would just pull up stick and carry snapper home for the pot.
BassPro has some gigs and a fish/frog grabber:
