I got a chance to use my GEC Top-Popper today when I went out to the Customs office (Are they ALWAYS situated in the middle of nowhere?) to pick up a package. Charlie had told me to look out for the mailman, but his references as to what might be in the post went way over my head. He’d also shelled-out for the arm-and-a-leg superfast postage, only to have them sit on it for over a week here.

As you can see, Charlie sent me one of his Diamond Jacks in antique gold jigged-bone! What an elegant knife. He also included the Canadian 2 dollar note pictured, in the tube.

I’ve loved all the knives Charlie has done with GEC, they really are works of art, classics with a timeless quality, which I truly believe will be talked about in decades to come. Of course the pics here really don’t do it justice, hopefully I can get some better ones soon. The Diamond Jack is very classy, and a beautifully executed design. The edge came shaving sharp.

Charlie, my friend, I am flabbergasted! This is a lovely knife, and a most generous present, which I will always treasure. Thank you very much my friend, you really are a true diamond.

Jack

Glad you like it*, Jack! The least I can do for the wonderful tours you have taken us on!

*disclaimer - this knife was NOT produced for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, which was in 2012 I believe.:D

You are welcome, Jack. Sorry it took so long!

It is a "Custom" the world over, to make people wait.

Wow! What a nice gift, from one fine gent to another.

...and that green bone really looks somethin' else!

It certainly seems to be Charlie. When they sent me the slip/tax demand to go pick it up they even sent it to the wrong address! The key seems to be to keep the stated value under £36 Sterling, then they usually don't get involved.

Awesome stuff! Looking forward to seeing your pics of that fine beauty Jack!

Way To Go Charlie! :thumbup::thumbup:

Very gracious gesture Charlie  and no nicer recipient on the forum ;)

Good on both of you!!! Like stated above Jack---looking forward to the pictures.

That's a beautiful knife. The jigging is particularly well done. I'm very appreciative of the work GEC has put in the past few years. Not only have they expanded their offerings and refined the proportions of their knives, but they've also upped the quality of the jigged bone that they use. That almost looks like bone you'd find on a 75-year-old knife. I hope you put that one to good use Jack. Imagine your granddaughter looking back thirty years from now, reminiscing fondly about that gem of a knife her grandpa carried. No doubt she'll say that they don't make 'em like that anymore.

Charlie, you're the best. Your generosity astounds.

Two things:

I haven't seen those 2 dollars bills for a darn long time. The amounts of candies it would provide you back in the seventies (my youth) was quite impressive! That image smelled of Orange Crush and 1 cents jelly raspberries. Thanks a lot for that!

Elizabeth was a cutey. Classy, but cutey.

Thanks to both of you for being you, and making this place an even more wonderful place to wander.

I thought she was pretty good looking in those days also!
Just like jelly raspberries!:D

Thanks everyone for the kind words! But it is all Jack's fault!
