From A True Diamond

Congrats Jack! Use her in good health
Another GRAND gesture from "the man" You can really do it Charlie

Dave

I think I may still have some of those two-dollar bills also. I know I have a small stash of paper Canadian money from when my grandparents and folks traversed Canada as part of a family trip in the 80's. They gave it all to me when I went to work in Calgary from July 1999 until August of 2002. Someone in Cranbrook let me pay for a map with the paper bills instead of loonies and toonies (Canadian one and two dollar coins) but the guy at the Alberta visitor's center said, "Put that away, son. They're not making that anymore!"

Thanks for your very kind words guys, you're making me blush! :o

That's a beautiful knife. The jigging is particularly well done. I'm very appreciative of the work GEC has put in the past few years. Not only have they expanded their offerings and refined the proportions of their knives, but they've also upped the quality of the jigged bone that they use.

Thanks Christian, the quality of the GEC jigged bone is definitely worth commenting on. I think the quality has always been good, but it seems to have got even better recently. Well done to Bill Howard and his team

This is definitely an inheritance knife, thanks again Charlie :)

What a great read to see two fine Gentleman such as these two in such a great exchange - a very generous one at that from Charlie, and I just know that Jack means every word he has shared with us on that beautiful knife!
Just a fantastic recipient chosen by Charlie - extremely worthy of such great generosity.

aside from that custom quality knife, don't you just love the labels on those tubes-to me a very very important part of the knife, and a very important part to keep for the future high-end collector-because these WILL be very sought after - like our good mate has commented before me, these knives will be talked about in generations to follow, and I believe that they will be quite collectable.

I don't mean that we should snatch them up for the hope of gaining money.......

I am collecting these for a few reasons - the first is that I am so very into the whole surrounding essence of people like our very own Charlie - and Bill to get together and produce something of yesteryear - that's very meaningful and to me very important to continue to try and capture the Traditional patterns and quality and produce a tool of such high quality that a man identifies also as a form( forgive me if this sounds a bit silly ) of jewellery - take for instance the brilliance of Japanese art swords and the magnificence of the art form of the fittings - we here appreciate beautiful peach seed, Stag, Bone etc in the same way.

I also just cannot get enough of these, and I want to preserve some for the future, because look at us as collectors, and what we would give to be able to obtain a mint old Case etc...its just too few and too in-between - so I kind-of look at us as custodians - because without tidy knives from yesteryear - we all would have nothing.
Charlie to me is one of these guys who makes it possible for us, and future generations to enjoy what we are so lucky to do - and that is to have lots and lots of cool and stunning knives.

Ok...long boring speal over with - as you were :)

Hi Duncan, nice to be on here at the same time as you my friend, and thanks for your generous words. I had to comment on the tube labels as I too really like them, all the little jokes and idiosyncrasies, they are a pleasure to read and re-read :)

Howdy jack - must ring you soon bud, I just edited and went for gold on the long and boring part lol.
Congrats on your lovely knife my friend, I am glad for you

A nice gesture and exchange of sharps from one side of the pond to the other.

I hope to have a fondle of this tomorrow....and shall give further comments later.
But I have a feeling its gonna end up costing me money as I have to agree, GEC's jigged bone looks to have been improving more and more....and this particualr hue is very classy looking.

Good on both of you gents

A wonderful gift in anyones language-I don't know of a travel writer in the Yorkshire and bordering Counties region more deserving.
As a quick aside-I have been away with the family to visit our nations capitol Canberra. There we took in the National gallery and the War Memorial.
At the gallery I viewed Blue Poles by Jackson Pollock -a multi million dollar painting purchased in the 70s with much much controversy. This was due to its ridiculous pricetag and the fact that it appears to have been painted by a man using a Baboon with a meth habit as a brush. At the War museum I viewed the small penknife which belonged to one of the VC recipients. The humble collection from this mans pockets was to me far more interesting ,admirable and valuable.
Jack I also had a strange dream in which you found the wizards grail in a small village thrift shop.
Although I admit it was 42degC and we were on the beer.
