Ordered the SBC DSL/ALL CALL package - $50 month for phone services including local, local long distance, and nationwide long distance for flat rate if direct dialled. DSL $20 month.

I'm signed up for dial-up til the end of the month with my present service. Anyway, checked and confirmed that the DSL has been activated, so I can install it, but the All Call will ( supposedly ) not be on untill 3PM Pacific time tomorrow.

So Yvsa, I won't be calling you today! Tomorrow, maybe.

Since this is the bottom line, I may as well give you the bottom line, which is that while I should still be around while I'm getting DSL up and running ( Since I still have dial up service ) Mr. Murphy has been spotted parked round the corner, just waiting to slip in the back while I'm not looking.

Okay Bro. We should be around tomorrow. If you don't get ahold of me leave your number and I'll call you back on our cell phone and if I can't hear over it you can call me back knowing that we're home.

Is that an introductory price or the actual price down the line?

EDIT: nevermind, not available in my area:( :grumpy:

Alright, here's the situation.

The DSL was turned on the 7th. I called and asked and got the All Call date listed as being turned on by 3PM the 8th. Called at 3PM today and they wouldn't tell me, but said it was guaranteed to be on at 5 PM.

So now I'll start calling long distance tonite, and in the morning, since I don't want to screw things up, a few more and then try installation. A friend who took 4 hours to install the first one and 1/2 hour to install the second one ( he used to build computers before he couldn't match the new in box prices ) is going to be home and I can call him if need be, and he'll even come over before I need a extra medication..

It works great but...
I gave up on trying to reconnect to my old dial up service. Sent them a new a service stop notice from my new addy

It won't take my Mozilla Thunderbird bookmarks, and I can't import my T-Bird address book.

Finally am back on the BFC register under my old name, new email, and password reset to what it was.

Today I could sleep in, but now that the phone line is open instead of dial-up keeping the number busy all the time, instead of sleeping in til 11 or 12 noon to catch up on my sleep I got a 9AM phone call from my former dial up server wanting to confirm my stopping services, then 15 minutes later a call from RPB wanting to know if I still wanted the US compliant FSE hammer/trigger/sear set and the US compliant gas piston. Oh he!! why not.

Tired, ( and lazy ) but satisfied. Yawn.

Rusty, put up with it... Change sometimes mean pain, but DSL is worth every penny. I've had DSL for 4 years now.

Bill Marsh was right... it is Sofa King fast. Congrats!

I recently spotted the King... here's his pic:

I know this sounds cheap, and hey, it really is!! But we can't afford DSL.
Besides, it would have to be Satellite, and our 'clear view of the southern sky," aint.

You know, I have a bone to pick with everyone. That's right. All of you who've sent me your phone numbers and addresses over the years, your real names and other data...well- I don't know nothing, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Why do I lose email addresses, have to reprompted over and over again? Because I'm a happy idiot and probably won't change.

I see this kind of data as transitory and relatively unimportant. It's only important when I need to reach someone. If I can't- Oh well. It's only slightly more important than what kind of clothes you have on or the car you drive, or the darn FN- FAL you've elevated to Godhead.

The person is what is important. I'm a bumbling forgetful genius without the genius part.
What does all this mean? I'm going to have to ask Yvsa for his address again soon, and if Rusty wants to hear from me, he should write from his new address.

My program hides the actual address anyway. I'm in the dark. The Great Age has left me behind.
I trust nothing but love, friendship, and steel.
I forget the rest anyway. DSL marches forward. Munk takes a giant leap backwards. What else is new?
Rusty has got so many khuks and guns lately I can't keep any more track of that than his new address.

By God, why do you guys want to know where everyone is anyway? Maybe it's better to let people go- let them drift off the screen. If they want something they'll find you. It's like a sea of faces, of hearts and the people behind them. "It looks like we're all just one big Soul" - Ramblin Jack Elliot

Well, Rusty is a moderator. He should have DSL. His public needs him. We need access. Let's call him at 3 AM.

I need a recess. I wonder if anyone could possibly follow this rant? I should ask 45/70 I wonder if I have his address? I bet I do somewhere.

Did I mention I've a mass of paper with writing and symbols and stuff all over them and important notes spread over the computer desk? Keeps them safe from discovery. When they get old enough and the data is no longer germane, I throw them into the wood burning stove.

take care, don't get lost- get DSL.

My cable is faster than your DSL. :p

OK, I know....who gives a flying fudge. Anything beats dialup.

My DSL is half the price of your cable :p Actually, I'm jealous, but I can't afford cable in my area ($45 a month). I pay less for DSL than I did for AOL.

Rusty, when I went to sign up last night SBC had me on the line for 45 minutes and then they hung up. Took 20 more minutes for them to tell me that they never put me in the system so I couldn't get on last night. My wife finished up this morning in 15 minutes and now we're shooting around cyber space a bit quicker :D

This one rate deal is great ~ DSL, local and unlimited long distance for $70 a month!

I wondered who was disturbing my answering machine. It's very touchy. It tells me every morning when there has been a power outage. It tells me what time it occured. I just wish it would reset itself, but it won't.
