Yup, Batches, trying to figure out just how many makes up the Sum of a Batch.
Blanks made in batches, Handle slabs made in batches then hand finished.( but these batches some times get mixed depending.
CNC done in batches.
Heat treat done in Batches(I think I can say that and still be ok)
Thickness of steel, both batches and what ever Jerry is playing with at the moment.
So, what you are looking for are the sums of particular batches and how they come together to make any particular knife, that is a big part of why each individual older Busse knife is different from the next and why identifying each knife as to exactly when gets tough.
The Most information gets told when you sharpen the knife, look to the sparks to tell you the story.
But Batch information is there to be read from a number of things that can be seen looking at the knives together in pictures like the one here.
Edited to add,
Hole Sizes, there are four Hole sizes, but one was just used on the Hood, this leave at least three different hole sizes used in standard production, at least two on each knife will be the same size and most of the time all the holes per knife will be the same size.
Edtited to add, Follow the handle slabs.
