From Trash to Treasure - a Rescued Catt - Markelized and Primbleized

What a neat restore. I love that he use the cut bolster, and added the cut to the new wood scales.

Awesome job. Any suggestions on restoring this? Found it tonight in my dad's stuff. Case xx is from 1940-1964 and I think it says 233 on the opposite side. The wood on the other side is completely gone. Not sure what exactly it is or where to start.

Or better yet, do you do this as a business?

What a great save! I saw the cut in the wood and thought, "that clever lil' devil :)". Nice pics Primble :thumbup:

Great teamwork!!

It's nice to see old relic knives rise from the (near) dead!!

Nice job fitting that rosewood Mark! And Primble, I like the addition of the little nick in the wood to match the one in the original bolster. Very nice little touch.

Thanks Mark and Primble.

600 grit then 0000 steel wool to finish.

you guys really did some great work and I appreciate sharing this with everyone. It looks awesome! Seeing old knives brought back from the point of near extinction to fully alive is great to see.

Great collab on these. Gonna have to consider including Primble in my offerings as a "detailer".

Nice save on the Catt, Mark!

WOW - thanks for all of the nice comments everyone - way more than I expected.:thumbup::thumbup:

Mark did the hard part and he did a fabulous job on the old Catt knife re-handle.:thumbup:

I spent little more than an hour or so bringing it on up to Primble specs, per our prior discussion.:D:D

Both of these knives were far beyond rescue by myself. I would have taken a look at them and dismissed both as too far gone.

I am going to have to re-think my buying strategy in the future.

Thanks again !!!

Wow, gorgeous work, and an amazing restoration!

That sure is a FINE looking new avatar there Mark !!!:thumbup::thumbup::D
