Yangdu has had a hard time getting on the forum. Fred - thanks for posting the info on Rusty.

I got her up and running on the forum earlier today and I thought she would have posted, but I guess she's waiting for me to do it.

She's leaving next week for a month or so to take Bill's ashes to the hills in Kathmandu (arranged ahead of time by Bill).

She's doing her best (sounds much better on the phone compared to earlier this week) and is keeping with the traditions regarding Bill's "release". I apologize that I cannot remember all the details.

She appreciates all the love and concern from the forum. I asked her if we could help pay for her plane ticket to Nepal. She said "Yes - but I would like to do it by offering some Deals on the forum".

So, rather than a memorial fundraiser, or anything else, I think perhaps the best way to show our support is going to be picking up a few of these deals she'll be posting over the next week (starting tomorrow, she said).

And another thing - she said the kamis could really use some watches. This one caught me off guard, but apparently the need is there. She said Pala (who is there now with Yangdu) will carry them with him when they both go to Nepal. So, if you have an extra watch (or feel inclined to buy one) send it to Yangdu:

Thanks for all the support, guys.

Dan,
How quick do we need to get the watches to Nevada. If I buy some tomorrow, then mail Monday, they won't arrive until Friday.

I'm involved with another site in doing a group buy of custom faced watches. If you order more than 10 are $16.95 each. We could get them to put that nice picture of Bill on them. The kami's need would be filled with a quartz watch as well as having an image of their Patron with them at all times.

Heck...even a few of us might like one...

Here is my amature mockup of what I *think* this site can do. (http://www.zoinkers.com)

Awesome, Dan. Thanks.

Ditto what Sams said. What's our window of opportunity here?

Edited to add: awesome, Nasty. Thanks.

Are you serious, Nasty? That would be awesome!

and I think you'd be ordering a lot more than 10....probably 40....!

sams - you're right on the money. They need to be sent ASAP. Monday or Tuesday (to arrive Friday at the latest). Yangdu said she'd call when she knew her flight information.

Nasty - can you move 'em that fast?

Sounds great, of course I want one too. :D

I think batteries will be a problem though. :(

The cost of shipping batteries would be minimal compared to the cost of a mechanical watch.

I have sent an email to see if they can do it. If so, with delivery directly to Yangdu in Reno, I will order them.

PS: I expect we can work out the reimbursement in some manner...I'm not rich.

How many are we talking about for the kamis???

I expect that once they have it set up, anyone could simply email them to get one or more for themselves...

I need a number...

I'll cover what others don't/can't/won't. Don't sweat the small stuff, Nasty.

I'm still in a daze over all of this. I do not want to bother Palla or Yangdu--I don't want to burden them with my grief. But my heart is yearning to do something to help. I can certainly send some watches (although it sounds like we might have a flood of those), and I am anxiously waiting to see any way I can reach out to Yangdu (beyond a short letter of condolence).

Nasty, why not place an order for 20 right now, if the cantina can't cover all of it, I guarantee the difference. In fact if you need $ I'll pay now up front and worry about the chump change later.

What's the comedian say?..................geter done! :D

Your'e a good man!!!

Airborne all the way Seargent!!

Hey Nasty,

If you get them I'll pay for 2 for the kamis. I can send you a check out next week if you make an order, as early as Monday, but you need to let me know your address again.

Smoke and prayers...your personal blessings *will* mean the world to her (and Bill and Rusty).

Thanks guys...just waiting to hear back now. I *did* explain the importance and the rush to get them to Nepal. Just like everything else...all we can do now is pray.
