Front or Back Pocket EDC Carry - Why?

I never liked carrying back pocket, i once teared up my leather sofa and bent my clip on spyderco ppt that snagged into the sofa as i want to get up. I always carry my knife clipped in my right front pocket...

I also noticed when I tried my back pocket it snagged on leather seats in car and leather sofas. Not happy about that. I go RFP tip up no matter what, if the knife doesn't come capable of that configuration, I make it capable.

Understandable. Clipped carry in the back pocket has to combine the worst of both worlds. As little love as I have for clipped carry in a front pocket, I can at least understand why others like it. Back pocket clipped carry makes no sense whatsoever.

Hard to tell if my 8/1 ratio prediction was accurate but it’s overwhelmingly evident that front pocket carry wins.

I was wrong in thinking that the prime mover was fear/concern of losing the knife. Instead it was based on comfort (1st concern), which wasn’t a consideration to me insofar as my wallet and knife don’t occupy the same pocket. My testing of rear pocket carry has been as if there’s nothing in that pocket. Concerns still linger that unbeknownst to me the knife could ride up and out without me knowing.

Also brought up is the destruction factor (2nd concern) of rear pocket carry: snagging/tearing furniture coverings, car seats; leaning against something, i.e. car and keying the finish with the clip or exposed portion of the knife – yikes!

From the majority points of view, rear pocket carry carries more negative consequences than positive outcomes.

I actually always carry in my back left pocket (tip up). I don't like sitting on my wallet nor do I like reaching past my knife to get it or my keys. Wallet rides in my front left with my keys in the front right. I find that if the knife is all the way to the outside rear pocket it rides nicely to the side. I'm guessing YMMV based on body type and clothing style.

I carry both my knife (rfp,tu) and wallet in the same pocket. Tougher for a pickpocket to get past the blade to the wallet. Phone in front left. Keys end up in back pocket when walking, and moved to pocket when sitting. Just been used to that way for a long while.

I need more pockets.
My big mitts are always hanging up on the knife I carry in my right front. Maybe bigger pockets? Are pants pockets larger as the pants size increases or are they the same size? Maybe a separate pocket sewn in for a knife would be the ticket. I know a seamstress, may be time for some customization of the Levi's.

RFP here. I dislike sitting on my knife as well.

Also, am I the only weirdo who’s clipped their knife outside their pocket on occasion? :nevreness:

Certain knives just seem to ride better in the back right pocket, like the ZT561 with the deep clip and large size. Also the Military feels like it belongs in the back right so flat it just disappears till you need it. But most everything stays in the right front.
