I love this "frontier/fossil" damascus stuff. I can pick out about 5-6 other blades I did in this one. :D

This bowie knife has a blade of canister welded "frontier/fossil" damascus 6 5/8" long, a bit under 1/4" at it's thickest. The overall length is 11 5/8". The guard is "stippled" stainless steel. The handle is stabilized Redwood Burl wood with a throat of Obsidian and Blood Red Jasper stone, black/copper spacers and stainless steel pins. The tooled leather blade sheath, by Tess, has Ostrich skin inlays.
Price: $400.00, plus shipping.

WOW!! Very nice. What is frontier fossil?
I've always hear it refered to as "frontier" and Ed Caffrey calls it "fossil" damascus. It's when you take the "cut-offs" from previous made damascus you've saved up (I keep mine in a WD-40 soaked coffee can) and fill/forge them in a cannister weld. That's where the refernce to 5-6 other blades came in, since I could recognize the damascus I've used in other blades in this one. Most anything will work. I've had blades with laminate, cable and chainsaw damascus all in the same blade. It's fun when you get a chance to play a bit.

Thats a beautiful knife J. I like the shape, size, etc and the fit-n-finish is great as usual. That frontier damascus looks great too, as does the sheath. Great job Tess!

I think that's one of the more beautiful knives you've put out J., and that's saying something!
