This trio resulted from a collaboration between Mark Williams (Williams Forge) and Chuck/Linda Burrows (Wild Rose Trading Co.) - collectively known as 'UB Forge' (Ugly Brothers). Individual mages of the pipe hawk and rifleman's knife have been previously posted, but the striker and its pouch are new - and now they are all together!
Chuck conceived the period design elements, constructed the hawk drop, the knife sheath and striker pouch while Linda did an outstanding job with the beadwork. Chuck also did all of the file work, the etching and all of the handle details on these pieces. Mark forged the pipe hawk head and knife as well as the flint striker. He also drilled the smoke hole for the hawk.
I will post a few more images of this spectacular trio as time allows. But for starters, this image captures (for me at least) some of the overall spirit of these companion pieces. In this case, the whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts.
The painting, "Odyssey," is by Colorado artist Dan D'Amico.
