I've handled the a few of the benchmade OTF's and they seemed really nice. I didn't have a chance to actually use them so I can't comment on that. Also, I've always been a fan of the protech knives. But I'm not sure if they have OTF or just swing out autos.

I'm aware that BM makes a couple OTFs, but I've handled them as well and I wasn't impressed. I wasn't really impressed with the HK Tumult either. Piranha would make a nice OTF if it didn't sound like a baby rattle when it is closed. IMO there just isn't another company that makes an OTF to the same quality as MT.

Right on then, sound to me like I need to check out their knives then.

I know what youre saying about OTF's and combat value, but all i can really say is I am in a plainclothes assignment and carrying a fixed blade wouldnt be all that practical for me, even a smaller dagger might be tough. An easily accesible OTF really is a good option for me.

TIMBERWEASEL...GOOD ONE!!!!!!!

How about a gun? Don't cops usually carry guns?

Where is your plainclothes assignment? On a beach? I'm picturing Lt. Jim Dangle with his short shorts and a leotard. "Oops, no where to hide a gun in this outfit."

Sounds a little fishy to me...

Spend some time reading the MT threads. Their customer service is legendary for being non-responsive and its been that way for years.

The best advice has already been stated: Find a good MT dealer, you won't get anywhere with the company itself.
