Just serviced by Jack Alexon at International Watch Works in November of 2023, pressure tested and regulated to + 6 Seconds per day, lubed, and upgraded to a Sapphire crystal.

As a testament to that, many examples, including this one, are still running strong today. The 6105 has always had a strong cult following, but it’s only in recent years that the wider collecting world has discovered its quirky charm. There are two references for this "third generation" Seiko diver, the ref. 6105-8110 and the ref. 6105-8119. The difference in the last digit denotes the market in which the watch was originally sold, otherwise, the two are the same watch. From a design standpoint, it’s easy to appreciate the asymmetrical case. The 6105 is one of the most celebrated vintage tool watches out there today, not only because it played a role in the Vietnam War, but it was also popular with divers of the time.

THE FULL STORY
You may have seen the Seiko ref. 6105-8110 before. It was featured prominently on the wrist of Martin Sheen's character, Captain Willard, in the seminal 1979 Francis Ford Coppola film, Apocalypse Now. The inclusion of the watch was no mistake – the Seiko 6105 dive watch was popular among U.S. service members during the Vietnam War in the early 1970s.
