SOLD
Hey all-
Just got this earlier this week but looking to fund some other pursuits, so reluctantly putting this one up for sale.
Aegis Knife Works Hoplite midtech, based on Jeff Simmons' custom folder of the same name. He worked with Millit Knives to produce 100 of these. For those that don't know Millit, they are OEM manufacturer of a number of midtech designs, and aren't just some job shop. I was pretty impressed when I read up on them, it is a solid operation with a very skilled team.
I mention this because one, it's all made here in the U.S. and two, this Hoplite is really well made. Has that "it" feel of quality.
Anyway, it's got a 3.5" CTS-XHP blade riding on ceramic bearings and a ceramic detent, with a detent ramp on the blade for even smoother operation. It's hands-down the most graceful, slick flipper I've ever played with. If a ZT flipper is a shotgun blast, this thing is a suppressed 5.56. Both do more or less the same thing, one feels and sounds far more refined. Out of the box edge sports a near polish finish, hair popping sharp.
Ti frame lock with a lock stabilizer, and an excellent pocket clip. I usually could care less about a pocket clip, but this one is perfect both in design and retention. Positions in the pocket just right, and has just the right amount of retention while still being effortless to pull.
There is zero lock stick. Why? Because the bar has been properly treated to prevent that, which is both cool and kind of rare these days. That said, the lock up is strong. When locked up, it feels very much like a fixed blade. You don't even have to check for blade play, (there isn't any) it's just super solid. Blade is dead centered as you'd expect. Whole thing is more or less murdered out in a dark stone/acid wash; Jeff was pretty clear he wanted a no-nonsense, tough as nails folder. I think he and Millit nailed it.
Been handled and played with but never used. Complete with box and signed card from Jeff. $375.00 shipped.SOLD
Pics below.
Price includes USPS Priority in the U.S. Willing to ship elsewhere at buyer's expense, but please note in the last few months USPS rates for international shipping have increased significantly.
PayPal preferred but absolutely no "eChecks". Low ball offers will be politely ignored. Not interested in trades at this time.
Drop me a note if you're interested, e-mail always works best/fastest. (I don't camp on my FS posts to track who posted what and when.)
Thanks!
Scott
