Back up for sale after several months...a beautiful custom designed Sue-Bizen Shobu Zukuri Katana made of genuine tamahagane by Anthony DiCristofano (mei: Sukemitsu) of Namahage Sword in full art polish with shirasaya, wooden habaki, purple shirasaya bag, and hand-drawn oshigata (by Anthony).

For those of you who don't know Anthony's work, please check out his website at http://www.namahagesword.com. He is one of the top US smiths forging Japanese style swords.

The polish was completed by one of Anthony's top polishers - a well known individual that authored some very good books on nihonto and received polishing instruction from a Mukansa level polisher in Japan. For more details, please PM me.

 Nagasa: 28 inches
 Motohaba: 30mm
 Motokasane: 7mm
 Sakihaba: 25 mm (approx)
 Sakikasane: 5mm (approx)
 Sori: little over 1 inch
 Hamon: gunome choji
 Jihada: itame hada with ashi, sunagashi, and kinsuji
 Horimono: a single bonji for Amida Nyorai – concept of “Pure Land Buddhism”
 Nakago: 6.5 inches; Signed Sukemitsu; the sword is also named via a single kanji - its name is Kensho. There is an inscription for the date on the nakago (tang) as well.

There is an original Haiku written by Anthony on the nakago (tang) in Japanese that he thought about when forging the sword (see photo):

Japanese:
"semi no koe
asa no soyokaze
yume no yume"

Translation:
The cries of cicada
the gentle morning breezes
a dream within a dream

I dropped the price of this on another forum and wanted to update things here too:

New price: $5200 USD

For anyone that was curious about owning a custom sword by one of today's top Japanese style sword smiths - now is your chance.

I am offering this sword now at 50% off the original price as an emergency sale.

This price includes the Oshigata, shirasaya bag, and free shipping in CONUS via USPS Registered Mail. I will also pickup any PayPal fees too.

$3995 USD

The bare blade alone cost $5000 originally, add the horimono (another $500), shirasaya (another $500), the polish (over $2000) - this is an amazing deal and you will never find a deal like this again unless the US falls into another Recession of this magnitude (although I do believe now this is likely a Depression).

Please respond within this thread if you are interested and then we can work out the sale via IM or email.

Best,
Eric
