The buyer of this knife probably doesn't need a lot of info, being well familiar with the maker and his superb body of work.
This imposing piece by ABS Master Smith Burt Foster features a wicked curved san mai blade (416 stainless shell laminated over a 1095 carbon core) of 10 1/8" with an overall length of 15 1/5". The large, wide, swept blade makes an impressive canvas for the display of Burt's expertise with the laminated blade. The cloudy, hamon-like transition zone betwen the carbon core at the cutting edge and the stainless flats takes on a bluish haze when the light hits it just right - a really neat effect.
The handle is shaped from a stunning piece of Koa with impressive chatoyance. Burt put a lot of time into the hand-rubbed oil finish on this piece of wood and that effort paid real dividends. The handle is framed by a guard and butt cap in vibrant Damascus with silver spacers.
This is one FAST handling knife for its size.
Tooled leather sheath by the maker completes the package very nicely indeed.

I will consider sales to my fellow forumites across the pond, just know that extra shipping costs will apply, and overseas shipping out of Canada is ridiculously expensive.
