Hi All. I have an older free standing coal forge with a blower. What is a fair selling price. Tnx.
Rolf

2.00.Do you take PayPal:D I really don't know Lycosa as I use gas but if it is in good shape I would say maybe a couple hundred bucks, but that is strictly a guess.

John---Can you make it $5.00?? :o
I'm going to put an add in the local paper.
Thanks!

If the forge is fully operational, it will sell for a pretty good sum as an antique. What I've found interesting is that those who collect those types of "antiques" will sometimes pay a hefty price if they want it. When you advertise it, use the word "antique" and you'll be surprised what some people will offer you for it.

They go for about $300-350 around here if in good shape. I have two that need just a little TLC to get operational and aren't for sale.

I got one of them cheap ($35) and the other one was my dad's.

It probably depends on your location. There used to be a lot of rivet forges around here in SE Iowa. We used my dad's a lot when I was a kid.

I saw one recently in a person's yard being used as a flower planter. My first thought was "what a waste", but most of the general public does'nt have a use for these things other than for display as antiques. If you don't have any luck with ads try to find an antique shop that will display it for you on consignment.

John, I saw one of these old hand crank one piece jobs in VT during my apprenticeship, a guy in town was doing a bratwurst barbecue type deal where the whole small town is invited and he was grilling them sure enough on the little forge. It was very cool, glad to see one put to SOME use other than a planter, he would even crank the handle to get the fire hotter (subsequently getting charcoal ash on the brats hehe).
