This is a Dave Beck Tracker stamped knife set from the 1990's. What makes this set special is the rare 'Rag Burl' micarta handles and the scaled down size of the Tracker knife (approx 85% of original size) and it feels brilliant in hand at this scale! The only reason I am letting this one go is my Beck collection is taking on a different direction. The Tracker knife appears unused and also appears to have its original edge. The smaller blade (B8 style design?) may have been used lightly and does show patina. The Tracker is 440C stainless and the B8 companion knife is O1 carbon steel. The sheath shows some general wear, but is still very serviceable with no damage. Brass lined lanyard and arrow holes, loveless bolts and an awesome earthy looking micarta!
Here is some details of the set from Dave. You will receive a laminated copy of the full email with the knife.
"The Tracker is an earlier model "C" Generation-1, most likely produced around the late 1990's and is made from 440C stainless steel.
The small knife (made from 01 high carbon steel) was a non-standard knife and only a few were made. Very similar in handle design to the earlier Kestrels but with a slightly different blade.
The handle material is what was called "Rag Burl" Micarta, which was made from shredded fabrics. It was made by an unknown company in the earlier 1990's but disappeared from the supplier catalogues toward the late 1990's. It is a factory made "Micarta" and is extremely durable. I was not a big fan of it years ago when it was available as it was difficult to work with, but I was sad to see it be discontinued, for I would have liked to have some now to put on my own knives.
The large hole in the Tracker handle was special ordered by the customer and not a standard option. Both knives look to be in very nice condition, with the Tracker being exceptional. From the close ups of the edge it doesn't appear the knife was ever used.
Less than a dozen of my knives were ever made from that handle material. Nice find and a very rare knife set."
