One of the rarest and most difficult to find of Ernie's folders - the storied "CM-1". It is the prototype of the 1998 Knife of the Year, and mainstay of the Emerson Knife Co, the Commander. I believe 3 were made (but would defer to the King of Commanders, aka John Hollister, on the exact number). It is a handmade knife with all the hallmarks of Ernie's customs and then some: satin blade with wicked double ground recurve blade; SpecWar custom knives logo; thick beadblasted titanium liners, with hand cut notched lockbar and liner relief; domed pivot; thick (thicker than a 1998 Commander) black handle scales; and, excellent finish all around. It was made in 1997, in preparation for pre-production and production of the Commander. It is in near mint condition, and does not appear to have ever been carried or used. It is genuinely a piece of Emerson history.
