It can be shipped by an individual. However you aren't supposed to ship butterfly knives to the US. Spyderco didn't wanna lose money like they did previously on other imported balis. They decided to not allow it to the US because of import. There was rumor of a production run made in golden Colorado that would allow sale in the US.
