This is a lightly used Mad Dog A.T.A.K. 2 (Advanced Tactical Assault Knife) handmade by the Boy Genius himself! It features a full clip point blade using 1/4" thick Starrett 496-O1 high carbon tool steel which is then given a proprietary heat treatment. The sharpened portion is 6", and with flat choil, 7" in length. As noted by the '2' in its name, it has hand cut serrations on the back part of the edge. Using his proprietary process of hardening, stress relieving, selectively tempering blade, it has an edge hardness of 62-63 on the Rockwell C Scale, whereas the tip, spine, and tang have a hardness of 50-54. The handle utilizes a glass epoxy composite fiberglass handmade using three pieces that are forced into a single unit over the full tang. It can withstand long term heat in excess of 149 degrees celsius (300 fahrenheit), tractive force of 79,000 psi, current of 1,000 volts per mil (0.001") thickness and is impervious to salt water, diesel oil, benzine other caustic corrosive fluids. It comes with a Kydex belt sheath.
This particular knife has been used and there are a few kydex type scuffs on the satin (most of the hard chrome has been removed) blade. It is still razor sharp, and otherwise in excellent condition. Mad Dog is no longer making knives and these are becoming very hard to find. Priced to take the condition into account:
