You can just walk in to the post office or UPS shipping center and ship it yourself as long as it's going to an FFL.

Exactly. I prefer to cut through all of it and just pay an FFL a few extra bucks to ship it.

Not to mention 90% of the people who work for UPS, USPS, etc, don't know any of their own rules surrounding shipping firearms. When they ask what's in the package and you say a "rifle" the vast majority of them go rolling eyes frightened cow and start stuttering.
