Up for sale is this modified Martindale #W702-460-01
Modifications to this piece include:
~Flushing the scales to the tang
~Reshaping the scales
~Extending the edge to the base of the blade
~Grinding the point to shape (was rounded over at the factory)
~Convexing/sharpening fore-edge and grinding/convexing/sharpening back edge
Blade: 18"
Handle: 5"
Point of Balance: 4" forward of the handle
This lovely fellow is an example of distal tapering at its best. The blade begins thick at the handle and thins out beautifully towards the point while widening to concentrate mass behind the strike. I enjoy this model so much that I have one identical to it, modifications and all! The sharpened back edge will facilitate limbing and foliage-clearing with the ability to cut on the back-stroke, while it aids in penetration during the thrust since the double-edged point slices its way in as it pierces. The convexed edge is brought all the way to the base of the blade for use with knife-like tasks, which it does wonderfully with thanks to its nimble feeling in-hand. The grind is high, facilitating deep cuts with a minimum of resistance.
Asking $40 plus shipping.
I accept payment via PayPal, money order, or personal check. If paying by PayPal don't worry about compensating for processing fees--that's on my bill, not yours. Item typically ships same or next business day that payment is received, so if paying by check or money order please allow time for funds to make it to me.
With that out of the way, on to the pictures!
