First a big thanks to the guys in the knife identification thread. I had fun researching and learning about this knife.
And read the link below!
Here I am with this very interesting old shcool fixed blade. I happened to find it at a local gun shop when I was browsing for a nylon sheath for a co-workers benchmade. They wanted too much for the sheath so I asked if they would throw this in, and they said ok.
On the tang of the knife it is marked Japan. The handle is stacked leather and what looks to be aluminum. The guard and pommel are soild brass with what seems to be possibly a carbon blade. But now way to know.
All I did was gently clean this knife with soap and water and tighten it up and treated the leather. I did not alter the factory finishes in any way. This is something that should be enjoyed as is. It was clearly used for hunting and has some patina and stains that are clearly from water and or blood. This thing is solid as a rock, no movement in the handles and they can even be tightened at the base of the pommel.
The sheath is also very nice and very thick leather.
I only touched up the edge on my sharpmaker today to play with it a little while I load some photos.
Somebody will enjoy this but I dont need a fixed blade and I dont collect guns.
So this would certainly appeal to a gun guy more than myself.

This was a promo item endorsed by Elmer Keith. If you signed up a for a year or two for the G and A magazine. You would get one of these puppies which are made in Japan.
Some or them have a deeper blood groove and some dont, this has a larger part of blade convexed and the rest seems to be flat ground on the main grind.
The blade has some jimping for about two inches where your thumb will rest.
Here are some photos for your enjoyment.
If you plan to use it, she is ready to go. If not, it is old and cool lol.
I really enjoyed the journey of finding this and learning about it.
It has stood up to the test of time and is still a rock solid Japan made blade.
