Mods, if this is an inappropriate thread, please remove. It is a custom blade though!
Hello all, out of my normal sales items, I have decided to sell a piece from one of my other hobbies...Japanese swords! This is a wakizashi from the Muromachi period, around the 1500s. There is no doubt this blade has seen battles and blood. Hard to describe, but it has an "energy" when you hold it. It could use a polish, but I had the handle (tsuka) professionally re-wrapped. Under the wrap is genuine stingray, and new menukis (handle ornaments). The blade shape is called naginata naoshi, and the hamon tempering can be seen. One side of the blade has a large fuller or "blood groove," and the opposite side has double smaller grooves. The overall length is 25", and the blade length is 16.25." It comes in an old black lacquered scabbard with the small utility knife samurais would use. Scabbard has little nicks and marks. It is still RAZOR sharp. The grain on the steel is an itame (wood grain) pattern. Very nice and well balanced old sword! It comes in a Japanese sword case. This is the real thing, made from Japanese black iron sand. I am asking $2,000 with all shipping/paypal/insurance fees on me. This is a very low price for this piece, but I have studied and learned all I could from it, and think it's time to pass it on. Please ask as many questions as you like! The blade is mumei and there are no papers. Thanks for looking!
