Greetings all,
Offered for sale is a unique piece with a bit of a story behind it.
ABS Master Smiths Ron Newton and John Fitch collaborated on a pair of gorgeous damascus fighters. The breakdown of labour was as follows:
1) Ron forged the “finger” mosaic damascus billet from O1 and 15N20.
2) John flat-ground the blades,
3) Ron created the nickel-damascus S-guards, front ferrules, butt caps and frog buttons.
4) John fabricated the handles.
5) Ron created the birch-lined nickel silver sheaths.
Here are the completed blades:
The knives were both finished with giraffe bone handles – one natural / white, the other grey.
This is a shot of the finished pair:
But that’s where the story begins.
As it happened, the knife with the white giraffe bone handle developed a split at the mortise seam due to moisture loss. As a result, the collector who then owned the knife sent it back directly to Ron to be re-handled.
And no giraffe bone this time – a sweet piece of sambar stag was used instead, and finished with a damascus butt cap to match the guard and ferrule. I’m sure you’ll agree that this was a significant upgrade. I’ll post precise dimensions later, but figure on a blade at or just under 6”.
The end result is a better-looking knife, with more premium materials and one that in the result is almost entirely done by Ron.
Here it is.

If you’ve priced Ron’s work of late you’ll know that the following represents a screaming bargain – so don’t let it slip by.
US$OLD! – Inclusive of Paypal (preferred) and shipping to your door, anywhere in Canada and the US. International shipping available at additional actual cost – and it is pricey.
As always, I’m happy to answer any questions, but the first “I’ll take it” by e-mail or PM gets this truly elegant piece.
Thanks for looking / reading.
Roger
