Greetings all,

Offered for sale only is a sweet forged bowie by a seriously talented Journeyman Smith - Wess Barnhill.

When I first looked over Wess' knives at Blade a couple years back, he was testing for his JS stamp, and I was immediately reminded of the first time I saw Russ Andrews' knives when he was a JS - just super clean in a way that set his work apart from his peers. The judges saw what I saw and awarded Wess the coveted Peck Award for bets knife submitted by a JS applicant.

This particular knife is a great portable-size bowie. Not so big that you feel you are lugging around a small sword, but big enough to do everything you need.

Blade length is 8 3/4" with an overall length a shade over 13 3/4" (excluding the pommel nut).

Blade steel is 1075, guard and pommel are 416 stainless, ferrule and pommel nut are 1018 mild steel has been browned.

Last but not certainly least the ferrule and pommel nut have 24 karat gold inlay.

Condition is mint / as new.

The subtle contouring of the handle is just spot on. Not overly dramatic, but indexing and blade retention are spot on. The knife has a very fast feel overall, and great balance.

Wess is VERY handy with the leather work as well - and I understand that he has been following the great treasure of information available in the Paul Long DVD series.

This is just a quick snap, but you will get the idea. Ostrich inlay.

Finally, a quick peek at the last bit of detailing that finishes off this knife. That end cap could be a piece of jewelry:

This knife is offered for sale only in the US and Canada at an all-in price of US$795 Which INCLUDES shipping AND Paypal. No 'net to me' fudging of the price - one number to click and ship and bring it to your door.

I will consider sales to overseas buyers but be warned that shipping costs are ridiculously insane.

Just a tremendous value in a custom forged bowie with a very near Paul Long quality sheath. And of course, the provenance of any knife is enhanced when professionally photographed by the legendary Coop.

As always, I'm happy to answer any questions, but the first "I'll take it!" by PM or email at pinnocr@hotmail.com will claim this fine knife as their own.

Thanks very much for looking and reading.
