FSH Comparison

I'm putting together a handful of special FSHs to see what I think about them and how they compare. I look forward to comparing them. As many of you know, I am primarily a SFNO guy, but there are times when you need a chopper or a little more heft. I was never that big on the aesthetics of the FSH, but we'll see what I think of these. Included in this comparo will be a HHFSH, a Banned FSH, a SHSH II, a HOGFSH, and HOGFSH LE.

Well, they actually won't be performing. If you've read my earlier reviews, you know my knives don't get out much, except the ones who win and become users. This comparo will likely be based on how the knife looks, feels in hand, it's balance, weight, size, design, materials and overall aesthetic.

Wow, I can't wait to see this. My choice for an all around would be the HHFSH. The HOFSH's will both be beasts. Any pics of the line up? What is your intended purpose for the winner?

As much as I like the SFNO's with magnum handles all of my favorite FSH's have regulars.

As for a user I like the HHFSH with regular micarta handles best:thumbup:

but ymmv!;)

Bring it, That's quite the lineup, I've always liked the FSH'S. My first Busse was a HHFSH-SE, I just love that knife, as a matter of fact i chopped down an old dead oak tree yesterday with it. It still shaved arm hair when i was done. Well bring on the FSH's this should be fun. ;)

The only FSH I've had was a HOG and it was too thick especially with the mags. I sold it and used the money to buy a SFNO. :D

Standard Fusion, Heavy Heart, Heavy Ordnance Grade, Straight Handle II & Mother of All should do it. You are forgetting my personal favorite Steel Heart--the Ergo. A Nuclear Flying MOASH, while I've only seen pictures, has to be hard to beat.

This is going to sound like blasphemy here, but I'm not really a big fan of SFNO however I do love the FSH. The outlaw has a huge advantage over the FSH and that usually the price point. I'm not saying its bad knife, I never even seen one not on the pictures, but I just don't really like the look of it that much. I wish though I had spare cash when NMSFNO came out, just like I'm going to regret being broke and not getting the BWM. Paying second hand price on the Busse's you like, makes it hard to go out and use one.

I got HOFSH with custom shop mags and it its fat. But its completely indestructible and looks like it could chop through anything. I think it might give even some mistresses a good challenge.
I'm looking forward to see how all of these end up when compared.

a HHFSH-SE,

What model are you referring to? Strictly speaking, the term "Heavy Heart" is reserved for the run of 400 FSH that were 0.27" thick and sabre ground, sold by the Company Store. Since Busse has been putting out more variants in the last few years, such as FSH that are 0.27", but flat ground, the terminology has been getting confusing.

Guy, not to totally derail this thread, but are the Easton smooth bolt FSH's considered HHFSH's, or is that term strictly for the original saber ground FSH's?

Guy, this is the knife in the pic,top knife. Its 0.27 and flat ground satin, 2008-se custom shop with Grex handles.

Don't forget the FSH Variants .... YMMV but having tried a number of FSH's my favourite is a Variant ....

OK, here's a pic of the first one in the lineup: A Hortonized HHFSH, .245" thick, polished convex edge, black canvas mags, stripped by Jeremy.

Here's the second one: A Banned FSH. Full-height convex grind, satin finish and zero-edge. Green linen scales over liners. .225" thick.
