What are your guys opinions on the FSH vs. the NMSFNO? They are mighty similar aside from the offset handle.

Thanks for your input.

Have both.

Love both.

Keeping both.

They are very similar but I like the looks and grip of the FSH every so slightly more. The FSH is one of the "iconic" Busse knives. In a price independent comparison I would pick the FSH by a whisker. In a price dependent comparison, given that the NMSFNO is available at the BCS for at least $200 less than a FSH, I would pick the NMSFNO.

Better yet, get both! :D

Perfect advice!!!!

Thanks for the input fellas. Are the handles on the FSH standard? Or are they the same size as the NMSFNO magnums?

I have mags on my FSH and they are almost identical in width to the NMSFNO mags.

I like mags on all of my knives but if you get a fatty you might go thin on the scales. Case in point, I got mags on a HOGFSH and it was too beefy for me. On the standard FSH mags are perfect, just like on the NMSFNO.

I'll take a fusion handle over a special forces handle any day. Both are quite nice, but I love the FSH.

The NMSFNO handles have a more Fusion feel than a "normal" SFNO. I have three FSH (military overruns from the VetDayGanzaaa) as well as four NMSFNOs (all tanker grays; I bought two, then liked them well enough that I bought two more). As VoxHog said, I prefer my FSH, but not by nearly as much as I expected to.

I fully intended to skip the NMSFNO release, and did so until they hit the Company Store, but then I searched through postings, and couldn't find any unfavorable comments -- the worst that I remember was someone calling the NMSFNO a poor man's FSH. The FSH is more forward-balanced like a chopper, while a NMSFNO is more neutrally-balanced; it's still substantial enough to chop with, but has a utility feel -- the balance isn't quite so far back as to make it a fighter, but it's also not as blade-heavy as a dedicated chopper. My advice is to buy NMSFNOs at release pricing from the Company Store, then buy FSH when you can pick them up at a show or ganza instead of paying secondary markup prices.

Jim's analysis is spot on....here is a side by side pic to assist....

They never did a bead blasted version of the NMSFNO although you might see a combat grade model stripped and "converted".....that type of finish is easier to look after and restore IMO.....and I may do mine after the coating has had "it's day"....the FSH's are still done like this when released at special shows.

i REALLY agree with MOST everything stated by jnphares, EXCEPT... i personally prefer the NMSFNO...BUT, his description, imo, is right on

you will not go wrong with either one....really:D

Fyu-jun FTW! I dunno what it is, but the balance is better or something. The NMSFNO feels like it could slip out of my hands. My FSH? Nope. Locked in there. Otherwise, very very similar knives.

Great a lot of good input and opinions from you fellas. I also appreciate the pics Peter. I just traded my NMSFNO, which I liked a lot. So I'm going to have to replace it with another one or an FSH. We'll see what happens! Thanks again, and have a blast if you are heading to Blade.

First, for disclosure sake, I do not have FSH so take what I say with a grain of salt. I like the shape of the NMSFNO grip better. The butt of the handle is more inline with the blade. The curve allows me to loop my little finger around it extending my grip and giving a more forward balance for chopping. At the same time, the rest of the grip is nice for more standard saber grip. The MN treatment on the choil and the upper choil (?) allow for easy choking up for more detailed work. Another uncommon feature is the saber type grind without the pointed angle transition between the primary grind and the flat, allowing for greater cutting efficiency while maintaining the saber's added strength. The price difference is a nice side advantage.

Great advice given here:thumbup:

I'll just add... the Fushion handle should be better when chopping. The SFNO handle is more straight, and will be better for cutting, and non chopping chores.

The FSH is a classic, and you must have one evenually. But the NMSFNO is avaiable now at the BCS. There will always be tough dessions arising when buying Busse's! I've had many a headache trying to decide...but thats part of what makes it fun IMO.

I am just eatin up all this info. I am on the fence right now weather to get a NMSFNO.
I already have a HH and I refer to it as my "american express". But I am really tempted

I really can't compare the two as I don't have a FSH yet but....... I just gave my NMSFNOLE its first workout yesterday. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. It chopped very well and was comfortable the whole time. It was still able to shave hair off my arm after quite a bit of chopping. That convex edge is sick! Got to score a FSH in the future for sure but the NMSFNOLE is a keeper for sure.
