FSH vs NMSFNO vs other 8-inchers

I feel like I've got the 7-8 inch category pretty well covered with the NMSFNO and SoD, plus a bunch of non-Bussekin knives in the category, but there are a LOT of options for great 8" knives out there right now, between the SAR8 and the FSH's on the table at BLADE...

So before I have my proxy pick me up an expensive, heavy chunk of INFI, I figured I'd ask for some opinions around here. What are ya'lls thoughts on the FSH versus the NMSFNO? Is the performance similar enough that the FSH isn't going to give me any utility covered by the NMSFNO? Is the FSH a must-have user knife, or is it more desirable for being such a classic design? How do they compare in hand, in use, etc???

I like the Fusion handle better for chopping than the SF handle, so that tips the scales in favor of the FSH for me.

I had both, but traded my NMSFNO. The FSH is a awesome blade and like others have said the fusion handle is much better for chopping.

I'd take the FSH over the SFNO.

If there's a sar8 CG, I will buy it without a second thought. The satin ones are a bit rich for my blood.

I think I might be in for a CG-SAR8. Just to check it out. I wanted so bad to like that knife. The handle was perfect for what it was designed for - SAR. Big, lots of weight. Hammer crap with the butt-end. But I'm not a hammer-with-the-butt-end kinda guy.

But on an 8" knife??? At a reasonable ($297?) cost? I just might bite.

But hte NMSFNO vs. FSH argument? FSH. Sorry. Again, I wanna love my NMSFNO, but if I grab a knife, it'll be my FSH.

+1 on that.

I need to get another FSH...sweet blade.

The other thing is, since I'm going thru a proxy, I have NO IDEA what the thickness on the Blade West FSH'es are. I have one or two in mind from the pictures I've seen, but they might be long gone by now.

There are still some FSHs left...at least 2 I think. There was a sweet satin/black paper one but it's gone. I know who has that beauty. :D

I like both the FSH and the NMSFNO but I too find myself grabbing the FSH most between the two.

The opposite is true for me.

I'm not saying either answer is right or wrong. A lot depends upon your hand.

Also, chop per chop, the FSH might be a better chopper, but the NMSFNO is less tiring to use (for me), so it comes out to be a more efficient chopper for extended use.

As much as I love my FSH, and would pick it over the NMSFNO for pure power, the NMSFNO is a better "carry" size for hiking. The FSH is just a bit big for wearing on the hip and I think the NMSFNO works better as a field blade because of it's slightly slimmer size.

Phew! I was worried what the title of this thread meant! even more relieved there aren't any pictures!
