Two of the Kentucky master maker's folders:

Mint Evolution folder, that is a LEFTY. 3 1/2" satin blade, framelock with thick titanium frame, carbon fiber overlays, tip down clip, thumb disc opener. This knife locks up perfectly with a centered blade, and it has a smooooth action. Full ti backspacer. Prefer a trade for a similar Smith in righty, or asking $old

Near mint Old School fighter with 4" satin blade, gorgeous grinds top and bottom on it. Thumb disc opener, titanium frame and bolsters (hidden pivot), and textured, dovetailed black micarta scales. Tip down clip, full black micarta backspacer. Smooth action, perfect lock up, a typical gem from JW Smith! This knife has a scuff on one bolster which keeps it from being perfect. Prefer trade for smaller Smith folder, or asking $400 shipped.

What's the steel on the Fighter? I've got a 3" JWS in s30v I might be interested in trading

I'm not sure of the steel on it; I'd guess its from the mid 90's. The most likely steels that John was using at that time were ATS -34 or BG 42. It is quite sharp and clean.

I have one of the fighters and I believe it is ATS-34. I talked to John once about his steels and he indicated that if the logo is actully carved in and is JWS within a diamond then it is S30V, if it is JWS within the diamond, but etched in rather than engraved, it is ATS-34. There were also a couple other variations of his logo that represented other steels, but I forget exactly what they were.
