I made this soon after I got my Scrap Yard SOD. It's carried the knife comfortably at my side through several hikes, but I've recently switched to a different sheath system for it.
The leather is thick, and it's sewn with waxed cotton thread. The corners are riveted and the edges were ground flush. The stitching is entrenched into the leather so it doesn't sit on top; this prevents wear of the stitching from rubbing up against things. It's been dyed brown and treated with mink oil.
The knife fits surprisingly well and *clicks* into the sheath. Even so, I sewed in a strap which fits over a Sam Brown button to lock it in for sure.
When I originally made the sheath, it was made for angled carry. I changed it to a straight drop, but you can still sorta see where the original loop was on the back.
This sheath is NOT a pretty, dainty, perfect piece to compliment a safe queen. It IS, however, a rock solid user sheath for a rock solid knife. It's here to keep your SOD at your side while you're in the field, hiking, camping, or doing whatever rough and dirty crap you have to do.
I'm not a professional sheath maker or leather worker. I only do this as a hobby, and not one I regularly get to partake in. That said, I have the utmost confidence in my work to be sturdy, functional, and long lasting. It wouldn't bear my mark, otherwise.
As for trades, I'm not looking for anything in particular. Make an offer, my interests vary. I mostly just don't like seeing this sheath sitting in the drawer, unused.
