So, I looked at FT hawks, and I'm dumbfounded at the great prices!

I have (unofficially) caught the hawk bug - not official till I actually get one, and since I just spent an exorbitant amount of money on two new knives and I'm already running low on funds... fate has forced me to choose a hawk. :D

I love the looks of the Rangers the most, but I'm wondering if it is really "ok" for camp work.

EDIT: After realizing how much of a newb I am on hawks, I'll ask this question instead... being that I like the RR, which other hawks would you recommend that I consider?

i've used an atc roger's ranger hawk around the camp plenty. i used the spike to drag dead wood that had been laying on the ground. the only drawback i found for the spike hawk was i could not get my wet logs to split and had to use a knife with baton. i think a hammer poll would of been able to split the rounds with a baton which would eliminate the need for another tool.

I would say get one with a poll first, I have a Fort Turner Scout, love it - will buy another as soon as I am back on my feet and gainfully employed.

So, I'm sitting here looking at the checkout page... thinking this is too impulsive of a buy... any help guys?

I've done a bit more reading and, as crossada mentioned, I can see how a spike would be handy. The big thing for me is it seems like a quality piece at a good price, and it looks so perfect. I figure I'll eventually get a hammer pole anyhow; so, should I go for it? Any negative feedback on FT or, specifically, their Ranger hawk?

Ordered and on its way here soon! I'll post pics when it comes in... thanks again guys - just needed someone to tell me I should go for it. :)

Did you order the Ranger, I have 2 coming with sheaths. Looking forward to getting them. Let me know what you think of yours when it comes in.

I ordered one with a sheath... can't wait to get it in the mail! I'm new to tomahawks, so I doubt my opinions are worth much, but I will post when it comes in.

Let me know what you think of yours too - feel free to post pics, opinions, heck, you can even hijack the thread if you want. I'm just interested in people's opinions on this one. :D

I'm new to hawks also, looked around for awhile and the FT Ranger caught my eye. Any opinion on the Enzo Trapper knife kits?

OK.I just pulled the trigger on a Ranger hawk and sheath.I found this thread and figured I wouldn't start a new one. Lets see some pics of these sweet hawks.

The Fort Turner Roger's Ranger Is on my "Gonna Get List !" I really like the head design, And all the Fort Turner Hawk's have a Very Sharp Edge from the get go ! I only have one Hawk from Fort Turner "The Hardened Poll Trapper Hawk" And It's a Cutting machine, You cant go wrong with a Fort Turner Hawk ! I know I'll be adding more Hawk's from Fort Turner to my collection,
