Took a few Moras to the grinder and this is the result. Boy do they cut like the dickens now! :D

So, can we send you some Mora's for some grinding work?

Well, with the cost of shipping out and back it'd probably be the same or cheaper to just buy one outright I'd think. But yeah, sure. :)

Nice! I've been thinking/threatening to do this for a long time, but never got around to it. Now you've got a Mora that actually cuts well! I'll bet they're great in the kitchen also.

So you did a full flat grind and kept the very bit of the original scandi bevel - is that what I see?

Essentially taking off the shoulders big time, thinning the primary grind way down. It should slice very well. I would expect the harder ones to hold up the best and be able to be ground thinner (without damage) than the rest also.

In a nutshell. :) Yes, taking the shoulders all the way up to the spine and the bevel width reduced down to what we're used to seeing on a "conventional" knife.

Thanks--I got tired of waiting for Mora to do it themselves. I think they really need to come out with at least a couple of FFG models. They have the capability--their culinary line is all FFG and nicely done.

Very cool! And I agree mora could make a killing off of some ffg blades. I softened the shoulders on my clipper and it made a huge difference in cutting performance. It essentially eliminated that "wedging" effect that happens sometimes. You should try just convexing out the shoulders of the scandi grind a bit then comparing with these ffgs.

Nice work!

Thanks! I had taken the shoulders off of a Mora in the past and while it definitely improved performance it's nowhere near the boost the full conversion to FFG gave it. :)

Better get some asbestos long johns. Saying something like that gets you flogged in some circles.

Good Lord, I don't know if I could live with myself if I desecrated a Mora by converting it to FFG! ;)

Nice work, 42.
