full or partial hidden tang

I have a knife blade that is being made for a customer. The blade is a simple 5" clip blade with a hidden tang. I have a guard fitted, but the antler I have is not drilled and fitted yet. Is it worth the time to drill through the antler all the way and fit it to the tang and also deal with a buttcap, or would it be just as good if it was only partially through the antler, and pinned like many bowies?

Use a good epoxy such as Acraglas and you don't even need the pin.

I just boil the antler for 30 minutes and then push the tang into the marrow (This won't work with reindeer or moose) push it all the way and pull it out before the marrow sets. Then you need to stabilise the marrow with superglue. Then glue it all up with epoxy and assemble. If it's an antler roll, then a butt cap is better. If using a crown, then partial inset and pin works best aesthetically.

I am not using the crown. I only have one piece of antler so I cannot mess this one up. Do I just boil in plain ole water? If I miss the marrow when going through, will it ruin the outer portion of the horn? Will the marrow harden enough to be strong?

I just drill out the hole to fit and use epoxy. A pin through the side will really lock everything tight.
