Are there any plans on bringing back the C83?I seen a couple on ebay, but they were beat to hell.I really like that black micarta.I have a Kris & would never sell it.I'm not too crazy about the mini-persian.

Thanks,
John

A run of them in white micarta would be nice and would probably sell like hotcakes. Given the new Phoenix and the Sprint Run Goddard Jr. it appears feasible too, since the material seems to be available in Japan. Know I'd be in for at least a couple. :D

I am big fan of C83 and carry it every day for last two years, and I also wasn't crazy about mini for a long time until I bought one. It is very nice knife, IMHO one of the best spydercos ever made.
Now I have two of them, most likely will have more.

White micarta please :D

or Cocobolo

or anything :p

I would add ivory micarta to the list of options.

May be Spyderco can shed some light if we have a chance?????????
That would be nice.

I would absolutely love to see the Persian come back. I lament the loss of mine constantly and look every week or so on the internet for one to no avail. Please, please, please offer the Persian again!

I got rid of the mini cause it was tight opening. I had it over 6 months and didn't improve. Was the C83 any better? Mini was close to an EDC if it opened like the other Spyderco's I have. Would like to get the C83 if better opening.

I feel my Mini Persian has a better opening than the larger Persian. Mainly due to the fact that the Large Persian has a longer 'throw' on it and the Mini is easier to open and close.

My Large Persians including the EDC one has tight openings....good thing or bad thing ??? I will use it more and I'm sure it'll loosen up a bit more.

Personally I think the mini is a better EDC but the C83 definitely complements it for the tougher tasks.

Thanks for the info. I will have to stay away from the Persian as I feel that it's to tight IMO. I still love the style. Decisions, Decesions. Maybe try another Mini????? Dam! :jerkit::p

I had a similar problem with my Kris(same handle design & lock). After a couple hundred openings & a few drops of hoppes,it's very smooth opening now.;)

The same happened with my Persian. It never bothered me. Also Ed Schempp gave some recommendation on how to improve this condition without hundreds of openings.

Yes it will get to that point or very close to it. I flush with WD 40, blow it out with compressed air and relube with a synthetic oil. I recommend that you do this maintanance on a regular or annual basis. Enjoy the knife...Take Care...Ed

There is no knife today better than C83 Persian, at least IMHO. :)

Thanks for the tip.I'll remember that when or if I ever get a C83.I suppose it would apply the same for the Kris.

The Large and small Persians and the Kris are all made the same way by the same subcontractor, Moki. After these highly skilled craftsmen assemble the knife and make sure that it is working properly the blade still has to be marked neutralized and cleaned. I have found that there is still a little grit the needs to be removed. There is also a burnishing of the contacted parts that just take some wear to get to smooth operation. I repeat the process quoted by bh49 and repeatedly open and close the knife many times often varying torsion on the blade while doing so. Remember these knives are all assembled by hand, by feel, by skilled craftsmen. There aren't many folks that can assemble to this level of quality, commercial of custom...Taake Care...Ed
