Added bonus is my back up light in the elastic strap on the side. Streamlight micro stream fits perfect and with the new clip it's a headlamp you can edc

I know a lot of guys that do that. I personally keep a Wave in my truck, too clunky for me to carry... but i wish i did like carrying one because they are very handy

Every once in a while I'll carry my wave with a pocket clip. The size or weight doesn't really bother me, it's the design that does. The clip is on the right arm(by the pocket seam) so the left arm opens in my pocket by itself or when I reach in my pocket my pinky catches it. It's nothing major just kind of bugs me.

Naa. I keep a small tool kit behind the pickup seat, and a real tool kit at home. My SAK is just for the little things that pop up now and then while I'm on the go. I find most real full size multitools too big to lug around, so if I leave one in the glove box, I may as well leave a real tool kit.

I don't blame you for that. Always have a leatherman in the glove box too. It was actually a hard habit to form due to the bulk but I started carrying a leatherman before I even carried a folder. :O

For work,it would me a LM Charge TTI,or my Swisstool Spirit X.More often than not they stay in my nose bag(lunch box),for just in case.Sometimes they even get carried on my belt, with a traditional slippy riding in my left front jeans pocket. To be truthful, the slipjoint does 95% of the work.-Jim

I carry a LM Supertool 300 everyday at work. I can honestly say I use it every day.

I do EDC a swisstool, and before that a SOG powerlock. I'm strongly considering going to a mid-size tool due to the weight of the tool. I just don't find that I've gotten any better use of the two larger tools that I did from my old LM Pulse. That said, I don't think I would be able to get by with anything smaller than that, as I use my Multi quite often at work. Its essentially my only carry knife at work. (My Izula does live in my EDC bag, but I don't use it at work)

No longer on my person (usually just a jack knife in my pocket), but for several years when I worked as a carpenter I carried a Victorinox Fieldmaster in a Leatherman belt sheath.

The two shown below go just about everywhere I go.

The Victorinox Huntsman is clipped to the key fob in my laptop bag, and the SwissTool RS is clipped to the key fob in my book bag/briefcase.

For close to 9 years, I carried a Super Tool (original) almost every day, along with a Micra for scissors and other supplementary implements. They largely replaced my previous EDC, a Swisschamp, although I come back to that for certain purposes, like travel.

That was then. Lately, I choose among a dozen Vics and Leathermen, depending on what's doing on a given day. IMHO, none are too bulky for EDC if necessary, but there is little point to carrying more than I could possibly need.

As these things go, I find myself in a sweet spot. :)

I never really understood guys buying a new multi-tool to tote in the car or truck. Portability is not needed and it seems like it'd be a lot cheaper to just buy a pair of pliers and screwdrivers, etc. (or just pull some you already own from your tool box and stow them in the car). You could probably buy a good assortment of the basics at a flea market for a song.

Actually, this begs the question: If you were going to stock your car with just a few basic tools, which would you choose?

For a car... pliers, 6-in-1 screwdriver, adjustable wrench, flashlight, jumper cables and when I lived where it snowed, a shovel and 25 pounds of sand.

Back on topic, I have those tools in my car, but usually use the tools off my belt when needed. I carry a full size MT (Swisstool for the last few years), a 2X123 flashlight (Aleph or SureFire), and a locking knife, every day in a custom 3 pouch holster on my belt, and use each of those tools multiple times each day

I've worked as a mechanic in my father's garage so if I am going to carry tools in my car, I carry a pretty good set- sockets, ratchets, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. I already have the tools, and have them in a small toolbox, so it is just as easy to carry the whole thing as it is to carry just a few tools. If I'm in somebody else's car, or if I'm spending time away from my car, then I might be able to use the multitool. On several occasions I've been stranded and I've repaired my car enough with my tools to go on. Also on several occasions I've been in someone else's vehicle and I've repaired it enough with my Leatherman for us to get home.

I think the point of a multitool is that you can carry it and have a tool in case something happens and you need it. If you anticipated needing a tool you would just carry the real tool.
