Full Tang Leuku in Wenge-

Overall the knife is 10 7/8 inches long, with a blade length of 5 7/8
inches.

Steel is 1080, differentially tempered, with a narrow profile convex -scandivex- edge. forge finish is lightly dressed with a 400 and 600 grit hand rub.

The handle is generously proportioned, textured wenge with stainless tubing pins

Texturing means that the slightly softer light colored grain is worked
down with a bronze bristled brush, giving an effect like a very finely
jigged bone handle. But natural, not carved.

Sheath is a koyote girl ranger style

#324

SOLD

thanks!

That is a gorgeous and functional looking knife. The wenge handle is awesome, and I like that convexed edge.

Excellent job!

I have one with a walnut handle. Solid piece great package.
For some a sheath is an after thought, not with Cristof Harper.

I'm not normally too fond of wenge but that knife looks great. Your texturing trick looks to work really well with this rather weird wood. Maybe I'll try it some day...

Dan-

I was searching for wenge finishes, because I like the wood- but I have problems with the finish and the openness of the softer grain. While researching, I ran into Don Fogg's Yakuza Bowie, and decided to try and figure it out.

I'm definitely going to do this some more.

Beautiful! I love wenge. I read somewhere on the 'net that hitting wenge with a wire brush or wheel (maybe?) brings out the texture. I've used steel wool, but not a wire brush. Wenge has a very interesting sparkle to it.

I used a wire cleaning brush, but I might shuck a brass bristled brush into the drill press next time. (next time is soon, I'm already almost ready for a glue up)
