At least I think it might be!

Here is the challenge. Build an Urban Personal Survival Kit. It must be able to fit in an Altoids size tin, or one front pocket of a pair of jeans, and cover the basic needs for everyday urban "survival". I like to call these "Convenience Kits." Photos (packed and unpacked) and description of contents is required. I`ll let this run for two weeks, then we will have a vote on the best thought out kit, that covers the most things. Remember, this is not for wilderness survival, just around town.

For the prize I will give the winner one of these knives.

Survival Tin Knife

3 3/4" oal
1 1/2" blade
1/8" thick O1 steel

Just saw this thread now for some reason. Looks like fun, I'm in!

I'll build a kit for fun but I already have one of these awesome little guys so I'll leave the prize to another member. very cool contest.

Great idea for a contest actually I have your knife in my kit already, (great little knife BTW) put ivory scales on it that came off a piano I scavenged, I'll hafta see if I have a pic to post later.

Oh BTW this is not an entry just a testimonial to a GLK, (great little knife) good luck everyone.

I still have mine and I love it, I actually keep one in my wallet and one in a kit. Had 4 or 5 of these made for christmas presents a couple years back with the mini sheath, WHAT A HIT! Everyone still carries them and uses them! But that said I want to try and win another one!

Still gathering stuff & rethinking it over & over.
I keep my urban survival stuff spread all over in my edc backpack so it's hard to pick just the right things that'll fit in a tin.

Here's mine with the ivory scales now I gotta get pic of my kit ;)

Im getting closer....
is it just me or is it this way for all of us but its hard to fill JUST an altoids tin. Im assuming were all pretty similar and survial over-doers, :D A project like this you keep wishing for another 1/2 inch LOL... maybe its just me.

Actually, after rereading Johns first post, not all has to fit in the tin,we can cram more into a front jeans pocket.

Ok here's mine. I struggled a bit as I always try to do everything " survival style" but I got my head around this and put it together and I think I may actually use it..??!!
Here she is all closed up and its all inside...

The only thing I'd add a non lubricated condom, looks ya have room for it and aside from obvious, the uses are endless.

I realize this doesn't qualify for the contest because it isn't a kit, but i thought i would share anyway.
My thoughts are to have the essential tools in my pockets, most other items are easily available in an urban environment.
All items fit in the pockets without being uncomfortable.
Saddleback wallet with cash and debit card
Hogue EX02
SAK rambler(I like this one because of the phillips)
Fenix EO1 flashlight
Bic wrapped with artificial sinew and a needle
Gerber Artifact
Rite in the Rain tablet
Fisher Space pen(not pictured because one of my kids must have "borrowed" it.
