If you could change 1 thing about each knife brand (while maintaining the philosophy of the company) what would it be?

Spyderco's with choil in the sense of this pic:

Oh, come on, there would still be lots of reasons left over to hate on Microtech (e.g. design theft, those idiotic triangular screws, etc.).

I agree 100%......the biggest sin, however is people waiting a year for a pocket clip repair on a brand new knife BECAUSE of those stupid screws!!!
They have even 'lost' knives sent in for warranty work!!
Ugh.....I'll pass thank you,
Joe

Emersons thinner behind the edge.

Cold steel sharpen your friggin blade down to the blade notch.

Also wish more companies were a little more laid back on the disassembly policy. I'm a grown man so we can play by big boy rules. If I break it or strip a screw that's on me, and I don't expect a manufacturer to take care of MY screw ups, but don't refuse to work on my knife just because I took it apart to clean it ESPECIALLY if the reason for my warranty work has nothing to do with me taking it apart. Again if disassembly damaged it it's on me.

Less tolerance issues with ZT.

So you have a low tolerance for Zero Tolerance's tolerances? :D

I would change the way Cold Steel is having some of their folder blades made nowadays, with regard to how the edge bevels meet the ricasso. Either grind the blade properly all the way back or have a sharpening notch it the right location. Check out the way the edge terminates near the ricasso on the Recon 1 tanto in this pic:

Check out the edge termination on the 4-MAX (middle pic on the left side):

Correct geometry on frame/liner lock face and blade tang. If the blades wobble or have lock rock, you're doing it wrong... at $200+ a pop it's not cool to roll the dice and be a guinea pig.

That's what's kept me away from some of the higher-end Boker Plus stuff in recent years (Albatros, for example). :grumpy:

Cold Steel going back to it's plunge grind of years past, where the edge could be taken cleanly down to the notch. Now they do a swoopy plunge grind, that is a PITA to sharpen.

Strider folders without finger choil in blade... A 4" blade should have at least 3.75" sharpened.
