Fun EDC Knife?

The AK-47 is a lot of fun to wave, flick open, and close again. And when you do eventually use it, you'll praise Lynn Thompson's and Andrew Demko's names, because it's a truly awesome knife - that high hollow grind gives you a really thin and sharp edge. And then there's the unsurpassed ergonomics...

The Spartan is a little more fun to me because of that huge, beastly blade. More of a "thwack" when it opens.

Hopefully this doesn't come off as too silly but I'd like an EDC knife that is enjoyable to flick open and closed all day (we all do it)! I won't be using it for much utility and it's only other primary purpose will be last ditch self-defense. I need it to be legal to carry (no autos) so I was thinking of something assisted, wave, and/or flipper. I've done a ton of research and have come up with a couple (more than a couple... lol) of knives I think would be suitable:

Let me know what you guys think!

I wouldn't do the SOGs because the piston lock can irritate after repeated use. The wave feature is only fun to pull out of your pocket. Cold Steels have tight back springs so you have to really watch it when you close it. My top 5 suggestions are Paramilitary 2, Kershaw Cryo, anything with an Axis lock, Boker Kwaiken (Blade HQ exclusive version), and the Kershaw Skyline

I always find myself playing with my Kershaw Skyline. Can't seem to put that thing down!

The look of the Skyline has really started to grow on me. I've watched a couple video reviews of it and everyone raves of it's price/performance ratio. I have ordered the SOG Aegis and am awaiting it's arrival! Will post a review then.

I've been playing with my Buck Vantage small a lot lately (flipper is fun), and my Benchmade mini grip. Axis lock is sweet and smooth. I also get enjoyment from my Delica, and my Byrd robin 2 by flicking them.

I have four knives I'm obsessed with opening and closing:
BM530
Kershaw Blur
SOG Pentagon Elite 1
Spyderco Gayle Bradley. The Bradley is sooooo f'ing smooth.

I have the CS Recon 1, and it takes a bit of effort to flick open. It does have a satisfying thwack sound when you do it though. The above knives are more fun though.

I'd take a long look at a Blur, a mini-Barrage, and the BM 300SN. All three of those are fun to play with as well as being reasonably priced and very capable in an EDC role.

Hmmm..
I like your choices!I personally like a 3 inch EDC blade, so I would count out the ones above 3 inches for me. Still, whatever works for you! I don't need a big blade usually, but if you need a big one for whatever your life may give you, then that's awesome!

I would personally recommend the skyline or leek for a smaller EDC that's what you're looking for

All great options listed here. From my experience, unless you get a Recon 1 or AK-47 with the old Ultra lock, the CS Triad lock is too stiff for all day flicking. I have tried and tried to get my Recon 1 (Triad) to loosen up and she won't do it :grumpy: Any knife with the Axis lock or CS Ultra lock is fun to flick open and closed all day!

I much rather a larger EDC than smaller but that's just me. 3.5 inch blade is about just right!
