How wet has it been here in the Willamette Valley (Oregon) this Fall you ask? I will show you. There are so many forms of fungus in my immediate neck of the woods I had to pick three to keep the numbers manageable:

The BIG ones:

The medium ones:

And, the little ones:

Mushrooms/Fungus not shown: The clear slime mold (it looked like a large economy chunk of clear Jello on the cement just before I hit it with the pressure washer and it went flying), slippery brown inverted umbrella-looking mushrooms that are easily mistaken for old brown Maple Tree leaves (hit them with the mower) and the weird tiny ones growing tightly as a large colony to the old tree stump (mower again).

Oh, yea. The knife: Buck custom shop 110, Oak, S30V, NS and finger grooves (When I opened the box I hollered out "WOW!" because perfection/dream-come-to-life was delivered in a box to me from Idaho, no kidding, thank you Buck).

Very nice oregon, I had that same comibination up on the custom shop yesterday. I love oak but it doesnt look real impressive on the build it site. Now that I see yours in living color, I have no reservations.
Great pics

I've been "trying on" different combos for months/years via Bucks custom dream software and finally hit the "buy" button. So many great choices...

The Oak looks different under various light. Brownish (the actual color IMHO) outside (as you can see in the above pics and yellowish (like my grade school desk top) under my cool white flourescent desk lamp as these photos show:

This is my very first S30V-bladed 110. And it arrived ohhhhh sooooo very very very sharp baby sharp. You can't see it in the photos but the toadstools were trembling by the knife's proximity. :D

Thank you for the kind words.

Here is another look using my lovely wife's pride and joy pumpkin as background:

The lack of NS studs poking thru the oak torments me but I think I can learn to live with the subdued sterility/calmness of this look.

Terrific photos! I love that CS 110 also. I've developed a new appreciation for the oak since I aquired a couple of them that were LE's or special projects knives. I guess I'll have to order myself one from the custom shop, but I think I'll go with rivets.

Thanks for sharimg the great pictures!

Great looking knife. I went and crafted up one like it. Can't decide if I would like rivets or not. But, nice combination you have there

Very nice knife, you did very well on the combination of parts. Love the oak and the fit and finish looks great.

Plumb, Bad, Case & ed:

Thank you for the kind words.

The fit and finish on this wonderful 110 is perfect. The combination of components fits me right down to the ground. The S30V arrived sharp in a way that no warning is strong enough.

I've attempted to peen rivets in order to hold a knife together (a kit knife). Getting them just right, not breaking the knife and not protruding from it, is challenging. I'm not mad at all rivets but the proud ones can bug me when I use a knife. So, no rivets and no trouble. But, big but, they can sure look terrific on a Buck. Like the rivets on a blacksmith-made oak door of old they can look sturdy, bold, and strong.

Here is a pic of the knife, paperwork (love the warm welcome to the Buck family), box and black leather sheath for your amusement:

Sidebar: Ordered online Sunday 10-24, shipped Wednesday 11-3 and received Thursday 11-4.

Did you just get this one recently? If you did, what was the time frame from ordering to recieving it? I want to order one, but I'm thinking that maybe I should wait until after the end of the year rush subsides.

All right.

Now you've done it!

Last straw is 14 posts (thank you kindly DM) & elguapo9 talking less money (I paid $101 delivered) on this thread.

Now you get the boring outtakes/rejects from the fungus hunt. You are in for it now. Save yourselves now and don't look below this line whatever else you do.

I am pleased that you think it is OK ITE. I was hoping that you would. I've been building this knife for months, adding rivets, taking the rivets away, adding the rivets back, etc. I couldn't be more tickled with the result in the flesh. It was built beyond my expectations. The builder is a genius.

Beautiful knife, interesting fungus photos, and a video of a sprinting snail, whats not to like?

You are the only one to even mention the fungus. Thank you.

I was hoping, and yes I realize that this is a knife forum, that some would take similar pics (Bucks with toadstools from their neck of the woods) and reveal mushrooms around the forum membership geography in addition to Buck knives. It is not too late...
