Fun knife to play with?

I've always felt that one of the coolest manual openers that features a flipper was the Kershaw Ram. All in all a very fun knife and an exceptional EDC choice. I especially like the Hawke lock as well and believe it to be one of the great underated locking mechanisms. Also call me weird, but I also find nearly any slipjoint folder to be fun and enjoyable to carry and appreciate as well as admire.

+1 on the RAM, I have been playing with mine all night. I also enjoy playing with my Sage 3. I do not own any BM with axis lock but I bet they would be fun too. These are fun because you can also hold the lock back which gives retention and flip it out too, if you get it just right you can do it without over snapping it and get it to come back home and grab retention and close all the way, it is fun to try to get the timing just perfect. Also, with the Sage 3 I pinch the hole between my thumb and index finger tip down handle towards palm and roll the knife so the handle is parallel to the ground and facing up then wrist snap into a spydie drop, very fun to do.

+2 on the RAM, great knife and very under rated in my opinion. Super smooth and the blade just swings when unlatched from the HAWK lock, although it does have 2 minor hitches from the lock when closing.
+2 on the Buck Vantage as well, it does have a nice sounding thwack when you flip that open and it locks into place. I have the Pro Vantage and it's a great beater knife with a S30V blade. Again it sounds killer when it locks up!

Bali for sure or a waved knife. You can open a beer with a properly cut wave hook.

manix xl or manix 2. para 2. military.
striders have the most satisfied THWAK when they open!

When I start opening and closing the knife I have at hand, I get up and fetch my BM-32 instead and flip it. It's a bit different to flip compared to the 42, since it's so light and small, but it's also relatively silent.

Most titanium frame-locks are satisfying to open/close, especially Kershaw's assisted frame locks. I really like my Spyderco Military in titanium, as you have the added fun of the Spydie drop. Axis locks are fun, as mentioned above, when you have the tension just right, and flip it open and closed, and get it timed perfectly. I miss my BM 42, as it was great. If you have a chance, a double-action (or is it dual action?) automatic side-opener is fun, as there are 2 ways to open it. And nothing beats the fun (and workout) of a double-action Out The Front auto with a hard spring.

I hardly carry it anymore, but I've always really loved playing with my Cold Steel Triple Action. Once you get the hang of the wrist action, it becomes incredibly fun to whip the blade in and out of the hinged handle. It looks very balisong-esque to others, but it's a different motion.

Love opening and closing my Para2, and any of my bearing flippers (IKBS etc...), but a bali looks like a hell of a lot of fun...once you get the hang of it :)

I just picked up an orange kershaw zing on ebay and it's a blast. Opens well with the flipper and the thumb studs. Also just an all around cool and well made blade. I might have to pick up a larger kershaw flipper to play with sometime soon.

I also think double action OTF's (out the fronts) are really fun to play with. Look up something called a lightning OTF. It's a ~$50 OTF made in taiwan and i've fired mine more than 10,000 times without a single misfire.

The ones I love to play and always have are:
Spyderco Para2
Spyderco Manix 2
Spyderco Sage 3 - Probably the most
Spyderco Chokwe
Spyderco UKPK - even though I can't flick it I love just opening and closing it.

Also balisongs are great:
BM 51
BM 32
Bradley Kimura
Bradley Mayhem
Spyderco Smallfly
Spyderco Spyderfly - Though it will be a bit harder to find.
