Fun times....

I've been told that warsteiner is like the coors lite of germany, a college beer people dump out half way through the cup. which makes me want to go to germany for the beer very, very VERY badly because I love warsteiner. it's up there with carlsberg, birra morretti, and kostritzers schwarzbier.

I've always found barleywines to be more of a trial for my stomach then my liver. the stuff is like drinking gin, my stomach doubles over on itself the second it hits. I like a lot of barleywines, my body just has a hard time with them.

weirdest barley wine i've ever had - mendicino brewery's talon barleywine. it was literally like a wine made of barley, with very little carbonation, and a LOT of fruity overtones.

I also recommend Delirium

I got very close to drunk off a bottle of that stuff. mostly because I drank the entire bottle rather quickly...

Well U_J, I will have to look for th Fat Tire locally, if I can't find it, I'll just wait until I go see my Sis In Law up North, that will likely be in a month or so. I don't drink much, so I kind of hope they have it at the Friar Tuck where I can build my own 6 pack. :)

Anyone that likes the New Belgium offerings, needs to get their new seasonal, Springboard Ale. Light, almost fruity taste, with mild hopping. And some kind of herby taste to it (the guys at New Belgium love to add some crazy botanicals to their beers, but most of them work). Try it with a little slice of lemon, or even orange, and it tastes so good on a hot day!

have ya tried Fat Tire... It is from a micro brewery in Fort Collins Colorado

That is one of my favorites. It has a biscuit aftertaste.. sooo good
I was in colorado a few weeks ago and actually tried that Hog Heaven. It was really good but a bit of a weird aftertaste that lingers...

Fat Tire is great! They have that on tap at my equivalent to the "Cheers" set. Great taste, easy to drink, very different from everything else. I had some that a friend home brewed to the recipe and "improved apon" it. Turns out...he DID!!! It was incredible....stuff was pretty much the same, but with more body, slightly creamy, and kicked ya right in the huevos.

Man... I LOVE fat tire! There was none in the fridge for a reason... it disappears too fast! I've tried several of New Belgiums beers and enjoyed them all... Fat Tire is one of my favorite brews. good suggestion  Pbubsy had some recommendations that I haven't tried yet.. but plan on trying.

I like that Belgian white beer...can't remember what the name was, but it's a great one on a hot day...got it in some sampler pack of Belgian beers. The other's were mediocre.

I'd also suggest "Dead Guy Ale" from Rogue brewery (used to come in a pint or a gallon, but I've recently seen sixers), the local "Stone" brewery has an incredible IPA and the Russian Imperial stout is very interesting as is Arrogant Bastard...which is a great name and a GREAT beer to drink with a STEAK :D. Chimay is also a good import, but one of my all time favorite ales is the Traquoir House Ale which is nothing short of perfection

Blue Moon is another belgian-style wheat that tastes great with a little orange. Perfect for a summer day.

KD It must have been a enjoyable taste test as you passed right over HARP #5, and never seemed to notice!!! Were There 9 ? Or 10?

Great thread!!

First off Avery is great. That picture of the Hog Heaven with all the other beers--there was not much there to stand up to a big barleywine like the Avery:D Hope you didn't drink that one first;)

As was mentioned www.beeradvocate.com is a great site along with www.ratebeer.com

Hooray for Delirium drinkers:thumbup:

New Belgium is tasty as well. Speaking of which--any one had a La Folie from New Belgium;) If you have, you are truly enlightened:cool:

A few Belgian beer reccomendations:

Brasserie des Rocs Brune, Triple Imperial and Grand Cru

Pannepot from Struise

Saison Dupont

Westmalle Tripel

Rochefort 8 and 10

Piraat

La Chouffe and Chouffe Houblon Dobbelin for hop lovers

Some of these might be challenging to find depending on where you live...

If you like a dark beer try the 1554 that New Belgium makes. I think it's a lot better than Fat Tire.

If I had to pick a favorite beer it would be Pilsner Urquell.

Having lived in Germany for a little while, I can tell you I never saw anyone do that. Warsteiner is a good beer, no doubt about it. Bitburger is pretty tasty as well.

Dead Guy Ale is good too...

Never see it anymore up here, but Dixie Blackened Voodoo Lager was excellent!

I used to buy the Gallons, but now that they have six packs :D I don't have to drink a gallon of beer to save it from going flat :p...in one sitting that is. It's nice to not get hit by a train every time I want a pint of DGA :D

+1 on the Fat Tire. I used to drink the hell out of that stuff when I lived in Montana. That's probably my all-time favorite beer- it is so, so very good. Too bad I've never seen it east of Colorado.

These days I seem to drink mostly Budweiser. By the gallon.
